In reply to: [12 Step Meeting List] Recovery Meetings on Google Maps! Thanks for the clarity, and I appreciate your perspective! More so, thanks for taking time to connect the dots for us v-a-v recovertogether.
Google often operates in the zone of “act first, fix later.” Like everybody does. (Microsoft’s latest patch debacle.)
Putting meeting info behind some kind of security wall defeats the use-case for those seeking a place to visit. The more that meetings are indexed and made searchable, the better IMHO.
You’re so right. Google will face, same as the ops problem I’m working 1.5 years into our implementation – is keeping the data fresh. The date stamp on records is critical for this effort. If I made a suggestion, it would be having a function where a future date (default = every 6 months?) could be selected to automatically email the meeting contacts, with some kind of record keeping about responses. Simpler? Maybe a manual function – select by date and send update requests. Triggered whenever, by an Admin. Also: Notifications of inquiries sent versus meetings updated? Lot’s of work. Whatever, freshness is key.
Love this app. Thank you so much!

Thank you. Snappy answer to a silly question.

In reply to: [12 Step Meeting List] Short codes for default views, embeds?Copy.
Thank you! Appreciate your direction greatly.
I captured what I needed (for a nav link) through encoding the URL.
And will avoid design elements that incorporate/capture from the plugin.
Very best regards,

In reply to: [12 Step Meeting List] Short codes for default views, embeds? Thanks. No need to replicate the list.
I’d just like to feature the map.
What are those methods for configuring the default view?

In reply to: [Invite Anyone] Invite Registered Users by EmailWhy would you need to invite a registered user? Aren’t they already registered?
Just curious…
For keeping people involved? We use a MailChimp plugin that sync’s users to email lists. We run MC campaigns to draw them back to the site.

In reply to: [Invite Anyone] Feature Request: Resend InvitationsBy the way, invitations sent to single email addresses arrive at the recipient almost instantly.

In reply to: [Theme My Login] Login problem with security questionI’m having the same issues.
If the numerical challenge question is coming from another plugin? I don’t know which one it could be. That element arrived when I first installed TML.
Calendars? Can’t work. There might be as many as 350 meetings on a single evening.
It’s more about connecting people to times and places by attending a meeting inside a gate somewhere, supporting incarcerated men & women.
I added the BBForum plugin, and this covers some more of our spec.
12-Step meeting will work for us as is. No bother.
Thanks for the discussion.
No RSVP req’d/end.
On the question of Moderators – We have none yet. My BuddyPress notion is rooted in the aversion we have to giving CMS level access to “talent” possessing dubious WordPress skill.
We’re closing in on a point where the organization will adopt the model and begin rolling it out to people in the field.
If we have to take on and manage meeting list records, it will be a set-back in the sense that a solution design objective was to put most or all of the local data in the hands of local resources.
Very best,
