Just done the update to 8.8.01.007 – and everything is still working.
Well done Jacob!
Thank you so much Jacob – that is amazing. I can now edit my posts without a problem.
Well done!!
Best wishes

Overnight the site was updated to WordPress 6.5.5 but the same problem is there this morning.
Please let me know if I can provide any more information. I am using Version 8.8.00.004.
Thank you for coming back to me on this – it is appreciated.
Classical editor was downloaded from the Add Plugins page in WordPress 6.5.4. Reading your message, I downloaded and activated Disable Gutenberg 3.1.2 to see if that worked for me, but I still have the same problem.
If it helps to see the effect you can find the before and after (deactivated, activated) views at:

Please let me know if I can assist further.
I am having the same problem. When I deactivate the plugin I can edit the post normally. When I reactivate the plugin, the admin menu has shifted towards the centre of the screen and the editing box is more narrow.

In reply to: Dashboard Menu floats into the edit screenThe ‘culprit’ was WP Photo Album Plus Version 8.8.00.004. Reading the change documentation, quite a lot changed in the latest version, and I expect mine was an unintended consequence.

In reply to: Dashboard Menu floats into the edit screenHi @threadi
That is really good advice and much appreciated. These days one has so many plug-ins that it is easily overlooked. With 19 plug-ins in use, can you guess which one was the culprit? Yes – you are right! It was number 19.
Thanks for getting me back on the straight and narrow – I will write to the author(s) and see if I can get an adjustment. Your help did the trick!!
