I have EXACTLY the same problem. The code in the text editor is
<img class="ngg_displayed_gallery mceItem" src="https://localhost:8888/nextgen-attach_to_post/preview/id--2148" alt="" />
which is exactly the same (apart from the localhost address) as on the live site, where the gallery works fine. Though I don’t believe this actually has anything to do with what is causing the problem.
I have spent many many hours on this getting no-where. Reinstalling things etc etc. I would very much like to know the answer.
And I too have tried different themes, with the same resultI appreciate that you are trying to improve documentation on your website but it is still some way from perfect. There is no description of the lightbox effects on the relevant page merely a list to choose from.
There should be some kind of clue as to what they do, or failing that, links to further information.
This might include for instance: Lightbox – shows every image in every gallery you’ve uploaded, starting with the one in the post, or something like that.If the bundled Lightbox Effects are as buggy as you seem to be suggesting then all the more reason to give us some idea of the major issues.
Well if you knew this why didn’t tell us?
Why isn’t it documented on your site or on the effects page? I’ve spent countless hours trying to figure this out and I’m pretty good at searching out information. I’ve not come across ANY information that this is a ‘known issue’.
I had to use one of the other effects, and spent further countless hours finding a solution to the forward and back buttons causing the image to flicker in Safari 5.1 on a Mac.
I despair. And I wouldn’t call it resolved. If it’s a known issue that has not been fixed it is not resolved.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [EWWW Image Optimizer] Requires exec().This isn’t resolved. I’m the admin for the site and this plugin doesn’t work because I apparently have disabled this function. I don’t expect to download a plugin that doesn’t work because of some exotic server thing that I can’t possibly hope to solve.
Goodbye plugin.
I tried the reset button and it worked for me.

In reply to: Nextgen is requesting the wrong URL address – moreI tried the reset button and the buttons are now showing. However when lightbox gets to the end of the gallery it’s showing, it then goes on to the next gallery, and would happily go on to show all the other stored photos. This is not what you want.
Any of the other effects – Fancybox, highslide etc – the images flicker and become momentarily transparent as they change, which is very disconcerting and not good. They do however stop at the end of the gallery.Clicking reset without any option to preserve or return to existing settings is a total pain. It takes ages to set all the preferences.
And will the beta release cure existing addressing problems? I have the same/similar problem and have just started a similar thread hereForum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Can't paste Excel graphs in v 3.9I’ve just tried this from Excel 2008 for Mac, and it works fine. It inserts itself into the post as an image with the following html if I look in the text editor (I’ve xd the actual link):
<img src=”webkit-fake-url://xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx/application.pdf” alt=”” />Probably no help at all.

In reply to: [Advanced Editor Tools] TinyMCE 4.0 not working with WP 3.9You’d have a lot less work to do if a little more thought went into the WP and plugins’ interfaces. It is strewn with baffling and poorly explained settings. I expect to do research on say, adapting function.php., tinkering with style.css or troubleshooting conflicts, not on basic interfaces like this one.

In reply to: [Advanced Editor Tools] TinyMCE 4.0 not working with WP 3.9That is NOT what appears in the settings window that I see. It should state what you have written/added clearly at the top of the Editor Settings window. I shouldn’t have to search the web to know that there is a button controlling whether I see the second row of buttons.

In reply to: [Advanced Editor Tools] TinyMCE 4.0 not working with WP 3.9Using the toggle toolbar button worked for me. But why did I have to search the web to find this answer? It should be clearly documented on the settings page.
This is the kind of crassness that haunts WordPress and its plugins. Why even HAVE a table plugin if you have no controls for such simple things as table row background colour. If I’m using a ‘quick’ insert from a button I’m not wanting to muck about with CSS. I want to click the button and make a simple table with control over colours, borders etc.
This is not an upgrade. It’s a downgrade. And that’s only the first thing I looked at. I wonder what other functionality has disappeared?Did that.
Copied over the whole of wordpress (I assume that’s what you meant).
The MAMP start page indeed comes up without the :8888
But will the browser go to localhost? No.
It persistently and stupidly autofills the :8888 in spite of repeated cache clearing. Is there any point in getting rid of the :8888? Will anything work better?
