Hi esme, thanks for that, sorry if i sound like a total newbie, i’m not really, just can’t gt my head around some things!! I have minimum knowledge of css and php and am learning along the way.

Anyway, your suggestion worked, sort of…i didn’t see an ‘insert gallery’ button but the images do run from left to right on one page ive tried it with. However, my main’gallery’ page still only allows vertical alignment and i notice this coding at the bottom of the frame:

Path: div.mceTemp ? dl.wp-caption alignnone ? dt.wp-caption-dt ? a

I suspect it might have something to do with it. I’ve tried changing the alignnone to left, centre or right but it made no difference.

here is a link again showing where i am now, i changed the theme to PhotoLounge 1 to see if it made any difference, i did find that it has the ability to create albums which is the sort of thing i’m after, just need to sort the gallery page out now so i canadd thumbnails which point to all my ‘albums’

I did a search and found nextgen gallery, was that your intention for me?, if not i don’t understand what you mean, sorry :O)

How would i determine the wordpress gallery functionality?

I’m just a beginner but i get my captions like this:(twentyten theme)

Open page, insert image using icon above and save.

Click on the image and you should get a very small scenic icon and a cancel icon. Click the scenic icon and the image editor will open.

Near the bottom is a section for a comment. When you’ve finished press ‘update’, that should sort you, hopefully

DOH!! I just uploaded it into wp_content/themes instead of into the twentyten theme folder…..my apologies, it now installs.

What other files do i need to include to remove the right sidebar and make it so i can use the whole width of the page?

and as per my original questions…i want to remove one of the ‘Archives’ and ‘Meta’ on the left side of the page (now updates with new theme

Yes, i followed the instructions in child themes but i can’t get it to show in my Dashboard/Themes section so can’t activate it:O(

I’ve checked the settings and it is activated. I take it i don’t have to input any code into the page? I think this is done automatically with the images…

Well, i think i’ve answered my own question LOL…I’ve worked out how to sort my htm pages and got the links to workk as well.

Just a few other bits to sort and then i could be progressing.

I use Web Gallery Creator to create my html pages with photos on, , it also does a slideshow. Will i be able to use the pages I created in my proposed WP site?
