I found the problem. It seemed to be that the MAMP server needed to be restarted.

I’ve never used adsense, but if it doesn’t have an interface for you to login and upload an image, you could upload it to your WordPress Media. This will upload it to your site and give you a URL that you can copy and paste to reference it. Either in Adsense or the appropriate place in your theme.
