    sorry, that was dumb. i need access to something to execute the db script to create the db.

    but my other question, is all the other stuff, like the changes made to the css and layout of the theme – are those in the db too, just waiting until they are recreated from the backup?

    the host doesn’t have any user control panel at all. i had nothing to do with picking the host.

    also, when we picked the theme, all the changes that had been made are gone – the custom menu and the twitter widget etc. some changes are there but most are gone.

    i thought all of this was in the files we downloaded. or it part of the database that it can’t see for some reason?

    someone else told me to open the sql backup file in a text editor and do find/replace for the old/new domain which i have done. i uploaded that in place of the old sql backup file.

    doesn’t seem to have made any difference.

    oh believe me i have.

    the problem is the old site does not exist anymore. i cannot go in and export anything.

    all they have is the files downloaded from the old host.
