figured it out – it was the Youtube plugin By Elke Hinze, Plumeria Web Design. All back to normal after deactivating it.

I am having the same problem but I’m not using qtranslate? Can I use the same solution for my problem? I am also not switching between languages, just having a visual editor where I can’t see text, or even highlight it. I can’t even put text in the box anymore, for any of my pages..?

Thank you for all of your help – I realize my silly mistake now: I had changed my site address in General (not the wordpress address url, the other one). I also learned here that there is a way to do this, but not the way I tried. Thanks again!

Oh I get you now! Ok, I’ve done that as well and still having the problem. Should I have reset something first? Or could the problem be something else?

I only see .htaccess in that folder…?

I don’t think I understand the language and am afraid to delete the wrong thing. Could you advise where I’d look for that?

Okay, I deleted and reuploaded the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from my ftp site. Now, before I delete the wrong thing, which are the root files of the WordPress install I should be deleting? Is it all the blank sheets listed under the folders in wordpressprimary? eg. .htaccess.bak, index.php, license.txt, readme.html, wp-activate.php etc??

this has to be done from File Manager? And is re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes equivalent to reinstalling the theme?

I had tried everything except resetting plugins (which I just did) and re-uploading all files and folders. Nothing worked, so I will try uploading all files and folders now. How do I delete everything except the wp-content folder if I am uninstalling and reinstalling wordpress? Haven’t done it before, so want to make sure I get this right…
