The owner of the album is always the administrator. Users are not allowed to create any album.
The two entries you requested are not checked.
With the beta version, a normal user can upload again.
    Thanks for the quick fix!

Can you tell me what was wrong? Was it a bug caused by a combination of something? Or was one of the settings mixed up?

How did you manage to upload a picture?

    Kind regards,
    Dirk

    It’s working again.

My site is hosted at one.com. I use the starter version of 1.5 € per month.

At this time the performance is good indeed as I have limited the slideshow page size to 10.

But now I can only browse through 10 pictures when using the filmstrip.
If I can keep the current speed and still have to possibility to browse through all pictures using the filmstrip, I would be more than happy.

    Kind regards,
    Dirk

Sorry for the delay in responding.
Table IV-A19 has always been unticked.
I have been looking for plugins that could have caused lazy load but so far I’m unable to find any.

I also upgraded the theme I’m using (Weaver II Pro) to 2.2.3 as I was still using a 2.1 version but this didn’t seem to make any difference.
Checking the settings of this theme I also couldn’t find anything that would point to lazy loading. On the support website of weaver they recommend some plugins for lazy loading which makes me conclude it is not included in the theme itself.

In a separate mail I will send you all results of Query Monitor as well as all the current WPPA settings of my website.

    Kind regards,
    Dirk

The lightbox is working now! Thanks!

Table IX-J3 was set to wppa
Table VI-B5a was set to “lightbox single photo”. I changed this to lightbox

Slideshow pagesize is back to 25 and I enabled the filmstrip again.

What happens now is that there is a set of 25 pictures loaded in the filmstrip. If I click on a certain photo, then that photo will be displayed as the large picture. When I keep on clicking next then I will see at a certain moment again the first picture of these 25 pictures.
I would like to be able to browse the 200+ photos I have in the filmstrip and I can agree if 10 pictures are loaded at once to fill the filmstrip.

    Would that be possible?

    Kind regards,
    Dirk

I have lowered the slideshow page further to 1 and removed the filmstrip under the large images.

This has a positive impact on the performance as the large images are displayed much quicker now.

Limiting the pagesize of the slideshow has for me an unwanted side-effect. With the next and previous buttons you can only scroll through the x pictures of the slideshow page but not through all.
Therefore it became of little use.

If you could create previous and next buttons that allow a user to go to the previous/next picture in chronological order, to would be great.

Or if you could modify the filmstrip in a way that the center picture is always the large picture that is displayed. On the left side and right side of the picture in the filmstrip there could be x other thumbnails with previous and next pictures.
As soon as one clicks on either of these thumbnails, that would become the center picture and the new previous/next thumbnails would be loaded.

    Kind regards,
    Dirk

I have upgraded to the latest version (6.4.04) and I have disabled Google Analytics.

I also decreased jpg quality to 80% and regenerated the thumbnails.

Lightbox doesn’t seem to be working to me (or could I have caused this myzelf by unticking a certain setting?)

The speed to display an image after clicking on the thumbnail varies currently between 6 and 10 seconds.
(slideshow pagesize is now set to 10)

Thanks for the link to Jules website. He has marvellous pictures.

    Thanks a lot!

I have enabled the WPPA debugging, set jpg quality to 95%, regenerated all thumbnails and I changed I-B8 to 30 as you proposed.

The performance is already much better now. Pictures are now displayed within between 1 and 4 seconds.

I will have a further look into the pagination and test it in combination with the jpg quality.

Thanks as well for the nice words about the pictures on my website. I’m still looking for other nature/wildlife photographers that would like to share their best images and I’m sure all of them will be impressed with the superb photo album plugin you created!

    Thanks for your quick reply!

I didn’t install 6.4.3 yet but will do this next week or so to get the lightbox working again.

I have thicked now the “use hires” option in IV-G6.
If I understand your reply correctly this means that even if I reduce the jpg quality to 20% and remake all thumbnails that only the quality of thumbnails will be affected but not the quality of the image in the lightbox. Right?

Will the quality of the large image that is displayed before going to the lightbox be affected?

Am I also correct to say that I can always revert to higher quality thumbnails again?
If I set the jpg quality to 50% and after two weeks I decide that this setting has reduced the quality of the image too much, can I set the quality back to 80%, remake all thumbnails and have the original quality again?
This would mean you always create your thumbnails starting from the original images before any resizing was applied to them. Right?

To come back to the original performance issue, this issue only seem to exist when I click on my home page (with the “most recent” widget) on any image. Here I have to wait 10 seconds before the large image is displayed.

But once the large image is displayed and I click on the filmstrip under this image, the next image is displayed within 1 second.
Could it be too many actions take place when clicking on the thumbnail of the “most recent” widget?

    Dirk
