In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] overview photos posted by a certain userThanks for creating it so quickly!
I have played around with it a little bit and would like to return you my comments.
It works fine under Firefox 22 and Chromium 30. Under Opera 12 I can see the popup window but changes are not applied (all under Linux Mint). (You may forget about Opera 12 for the time being)
As an end user I would prefer to see two buttons: “save changes” and “discard changes”. Right now changes are automatically saved when the window is closed (but only after you left the field you just edited). If you change for instance the description you need to first click on another field before the change is kept when closing the window.
Linked to this I would like to have an auto-refresh of the page in the browser when closing the window. Otherwise it looks like the change didn’t take place. (Only after a reload of the page, the change is visible.)Secondly, I would like to limit the fields that are available to an end user. The “photo sort order” and the “insertion code” fields are in my opinion not something an user should be able to change.
Thirdly, when a photo is deleted and the popup window is closed you’re back in the browser on the page containing the photo that was just deleted. If you now reload the page you get an error message that the photo is not available.
I know, the possibility that someone does this is very low, but would it be possible to say that upon deletion of a photo the user would be either returned to the home page or would see the next photo in the same category. (If the last photo of a category is deleted, I think the only option would be to return to the home page.)I hope I’m not too much of a nuisance with all my remarks and wishes.
Thanks again for all your work!Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] geographic data does not display in OperaFor Linux version 12.16 seems to be the latest version. The Windows version has indeed a much higher version number as I just found out.
My main browser is Firefox but I use Opera as a secondary browser to allow me to be logged in twice under two different user accounts using the same pc.
Let’s hope an updated version for Linux will be released soon.

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] Comment not displayed when hovering over pictureThanks for the quick fix.
I’ll wait for the official release. It’s not that urgent for me.

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] overview photos posted by a certain userThat was stupid simple. I had indeed to click on the header in order to see the different options for table VII-C.
With the Uploader Edit option enabled, I can see indeed only the “Edit” link for the photos posted by the user and no longer for the other users. However, as I disabled the wp-admin page for normal users, I cannot currently edit the photos.
I will wait for your frontend edit photo implementation. You’re right about the comments. That was my misinterpretation. I thought I had to select the “comments” right in table VII-A in order to be able to post some comments. But it is an “comments admin” right.
Thanks for your swift reply and help as always.

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] overview photos posted by a certain userI have just installed the “wp admin no show” plugin to totally prevent any non-admin user from accessing the wp-admin page.
When a non-admin user tries to access the wp-admin page they are redirected to the home page.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] overview photos posted by a certain userI might have some incorrect settings as I don’t see anything in table VII-C. The miscellaneous security settings only display the titles but no options.
Can you tell me which options are required in order to display the options of table VII-C?Maybe I underestimate my (future) users but it seems to me the admin bar offers too many options, it gives too many details about the website (WordPress version, theme name + version) and it looks like users can moderate the photo album comments made by other users.
Furthermore one can see the default WordPress “Posts” and “Comments” options while I only want to upload allow the upload of wppa photos and wppa comments.
I would like to have a simple, uniform looking website. No matter where someone is on my website (posting photos or comments, changing his profile, …) he should always see the same layout and be able to go to the home page by one single click.
Good that you mentioned any user can go to the wp-admin page. This is something I want to block to prevent any unwanted actions.
If I cannot prevent users from accessing this page, I definitely need to limit the number of available menu options.Forum: Plugins

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] list of emoticons above comment input fieldExtra information:
Currently, I’m testing the “Custom Smilies” plugin which allows smilies to be added easily.
If I activate the default WordPress comments on my pages (using the theme Weaver II), I can display all available smilies with the “Custom Smilies” plugin. For themes not supporting the comment_form action, they say the following line should be added to the comments.php file.
if ( function_exists(cs_print_smilies) ) {cs_print_smilies();}
I’m definitely not a php specialist but when I added this line into the wp-photo-album-plus/theme/wppa-boxes-html.php file all available smilies appear multiple times at the top of the page, while I would like to have the smilies just above or just below the comment input filed.
Could this statement be entered via the Settings menu, “comment related settings”, to allow user defined text to appear above or below the comment?

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] overview photos posted by a certain userThanks for adding it onto the wishlist.
I meant the original WordPress bar (with the WordPress logo from where you can go to the WordPress website, view the dashboard, your profile, …)

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] overview photos posted by a certain userThanks for the quick implementation! That is exactly what I was looking for.
I know that I keep on asking extra features, but would it be possible to allow a user the edit/delete the photos he posted?
In table VII-A I can grant a user the “album admin” right which basically is what I’m looking for, but this right allows the user to manage all photos in the album and not only the photos he posted.
Another disadvantage of this permission is that the user then also sees the WordPress menu bar.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] overview photos posted by a certain userThat’s sounds very promising.
I’m looking forward to your next release so that I can test this new widget.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] limit photo size per roleThanks for your feedback and your open-mindedness.
It’s true I don’t know what is all happening behind the scenes in order to make this plugin the great plugin that is fun to use. If it is too complex to be implemented, I’ll have to find another way in order to impose the limits.
Instead of having to define x number of rules, would it be a valid option to remove the fixed number of rules that are currently in place and allow any number of rules to be created by the admin. (In database terms this would result in an extra table to be created which would store all defined rules.)
The administrator could then add new rules, modify existing rules or delete existing rules. The columns to be filled in would be the role, the number and the frequency (per day, per week, for ever).
I know this is easily said and that it will require some time to do these changes, but would it be an option?Kind regards,
Dirk Claesen

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] overview photos posted by a certain userThat widget looks very promising. I assume the date is the date of the last photo posted.
If that widget allows to select the number of users I want to display and it gives me the option (as administrator) to sort the list based on the number of photos (in descending order so that I can display the top 10) then it is exactly what I wanted.
A “my pictures” widget would allow anyone to immediately see his pictures without a need to browse through the widget you just created. If I display the top 20 there will definitely be some users that are not represented in this list.
A user can indeed view his own pictures on his own pc, but my idea was that via the “my pictures” widget a user could also update photos he already posted (replacing the picture by another one, moving it to another category or correcting the description he gave to the picture) or delete the photos he no longer wants to be on the website.Does this validate the creation of such a “my picture” widget?
