Thank you. I will try your suggestion – uninstall and reinstall the plugins to see if that works. Lots of times things just need a reboot to clear the dust bunnies!

I have resolved this issue myself which I can explain for any other non-techies like me (I am not a programmer, but the company that set up my website were experts, hence the toolbox theme choice, much to my disappointment after we parted ways)
The fix was easy to do, which was to go to ‘appearance’ then to ‘editor’ then to ‘header’; inside the header html was the problem, which the programmer who wrote the code did not link directly to the source (FB, twitter, RSS, LI). Once that code was corrected, the source images appeared fine.
This issue can be closed.

But my original question is still unresolved – images in header not showing up – advice to use velvet blues plugin did not work – what else? Where is the path for the toolbox theme images to change out of ‘test’ mode???

I don’t know how to access them to make the change from ‘test’ to not test – velvet blue didn’t do it and when I try to change the html in the theme customize it doesn’t save. How do I access the slider?

I tried velvet blues and it said that all the files were updated but the problem is still there – no header images!

Should I try to reinstall the theme? Or install a new theme? If so, which one is closest to toolbox and would map over the best?

Of course that’s the problem! The site was set up in test mode by my old developer and needs to come out. Can you help me further by telling me a) how to find the sub-domain file path to change out of test mode? and b) do I need to upload the images again?
