In reply to: Page Widget Closes So I Can’t Enter Infoesmi,
turns out all I had to do was switch themes (under wwhich the widgets worked) and when I switched back to Thesis (what I have just started using) it was also working again. Thanks for the tips. Switching themes and back again was the trick.

In reply to: Upgrade to 2.9 from 2.8.6 failsOK, lets back to my original question.
Here’s my error, which happens with plugins enabled or plugins disabled (all plugins)
wp database error Unknown system variable ‘NAMES’ for query SET NAMES
THis error happens when I run the upgrade.php page, and when I click the Upgrade button on that page. I had to revert to 2.8 by re-uploading the 2.8 files (database seems to have gotten nothing done to it, due to the errors)
I am on PHP 5.2
MySQL Client API version 5.0.22Any ideas?
Unless you are getting this particular error, please post a different forum message. I am seeking a resolution for the error I specified

In reply to: Why is “Share This” plugin window offset so far?Often, it DOES help, when it is related to several DIFERENT threads which people may be subscribing to via RSS.
I have “stopped” , by the way. I wasn’t going to do more than 2 or 3. It seems like some threads get more “response” than others. It’s just natural to ask the same question in different but on-topic threads. It’s not like I’m spamming. I’m trying to find a solution to my problem.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Share This plugin – Weird pop-up in IE Browsers..Firefox fineI see freshpeel never got his problem with the IE popup window location resolved. It is definitely a theme issue. I use K2, and when I revert to the default theme, the popup appears in the correct place (directly below the share this link just clicked, and this works all the way down the page as you scroll down to posts further down the page.
Can someone PLEASE sharre what one needs to do to get the correct popup behaviour into a theme. If I could just get the correct javascript for the click event on the share this link, that would be great, then I could place it in the js files called by K2.

In reply to: Why is “Share This” plugin window offset so far?I’d like to see a fix for this…..it works fine in Firefox, but in IE, the popup appears further down the screen instead of directly under the Share This link. The popup moves even further down the page (and off-screen) as the post location gets further down the page. Seems there is an IE javascript issue here (this problem happens in IE 6 AND IE7)
