mbrsolution – which login files? what specifically am I looking for? If you can give me some direction I will try to troubleshoot.
My gut tells me it is not a conflict with another plugin. AIOWS is the only security plugin I am using.
Hey GHDesign – thanks for chiming in. And thank you mbrsolution and wpsolutions for patching it up. It will make a good additional layer of security. Much appreciated!!
Hi wpsolutions –
Any updates? It’s been two months and I responded with the troubleshooting information you requested.
Thanks!

Hi wpsolutions –
Good suggestions. I was able to get you the information you requested.
I tried keeping AIOWPS active and just disabling all of the security features. The problem indeed goes away.
I then tried enabling the features one at a time to determine if I could point you in a more specific direction. Success! As soon as I enabled “Rename Login Page Settings” under “Brute Force” the password hint reverted back to the default. Makes sense really, because we’re talking about a problem with wp-login.
So, since I was so helpful in targeting where the issue is, you think we’ll see an update to the plugin soon? ??

In reply to: [Login Security Solution] Reset Password Hint Broken (again?)To follow up – I posted my question in the AIOWS forum here: Plugin Overwrites Password Hint on Reset Password Page.
Daniel, I referenced your work on the WordPress core in getting the password hint text being moved to a function. Maybe you could chime in on this thread depending on the response received. AIOWS is one of the most popular broad security plugins and strives to work with other plugins. It could be a great opportunity for you to collaborate and get even more exposure for LSS.
Just wanted to make you aware. Thanks again for your prompt reply earlier.
Best.

In reply to: [Login Security Solution] Reset Password Hint Broken (again?)Hi Dan –
I figured out the source of the problem. It’s not the theme. It’s a conflict with the All In One WP Security & Firewall plugin. I will post in that forum.
Thank you for reviewing.

Bump. I’m having the same issue and it’s put a huge snag in my project at the final hour. :-/
Hey George –
I appreciate the reply! I will give this a shot. The hack solution I was using was applying “display: none;” styles via CSS, but that took some tweaking as I accidentally knocked out some other fields. This sounds like a better solution.
Thank you,
Dennis
That makes perfect sense. Thanks for the follow up!

I am interested in Enelcaso’s follow up question as well. What factors are taken into account when setting the priority? Specifically, my siteindex for my multi-site installation shows the sites ranging in priority from 1 to .7, yet the sites themselves are all equally important to me.
OddOneOut, can we get a quick rundown of the logic?
Thanks!

In reply to: [Better WordPress Minify] Caused Problems with Google Instant PreviewI never really read through other ratings of a plugin if I’m done evaluating it for my needs, but I happened to see this thread after posting my own review. I have no relation to the author, and I have to agree with everyone that has posted in this thread – penalizing the plugin with the lowest mark possible, after stating it works, but being disappointed in your experience with another product is not only a poor reflection of the reviewer, it does the community of folks trying to find the right plugin for their needs a disservice. Furthermore, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some other issue causing your instant preview problems.

In reply to: Visual Editor Tab not showing – How i fixed itHey stAugPhotoArt, I think the problem you dealt with is different from what has been discussed in this thread. The solution you suggest only works if there is a record in the user_meta table to begin with. In certain cases, such as a migration of older installations of WordPress, that record doesn’t exist and requires manual creation… hence the need for this thread to cover that specific situation.
Even if this did work, I have a multi-site blog with hundreds of users and it would not be feasible to manually check off that box. The solution suggested in paragraph 6 of the original post helped me to fix the problem across the board in a few mins.
