After brushing up on my cPanel terminology and config options, it seems as though a parked domain doesn’t set up a redirect. You’ll want to do that as well by following these steps. After that, you should be able to go to https://bwls.co/ and end up at https://www.lawnbowls.com/ or https://bwls.co/ashdkashdka and end up at https://www.lawnbowls.com/ashdkashdka.

Is your full domain configured as the main domain in cPanel or an add-on?

I’m not sure exactly how you’ve configured your site, but the exact process I used to set up my site is what I’ve described in the documentation. As such, my site redirects any and all requests to the short domain to the same location on the long domain, including the root.

Check your configuration against the documentation and see if there’s possibly something you’ve missed.

If you uncheck the “Use Shortn.It URL as canonical URL” setting, the full URL should be the one that is extracted by Facebook and other platforms.

I think a 301 would solve one problem but create another. I would think whenever Google reindexes the site, the URLs should update. There is a way to request a crawl and speed up the process.

If you have an existing URL for the main domain, such as maindomain.com/about, do you end up there with short.co/about as well? Your short domain should forward every request (in one way or another) to the main domain for this to work properly.

Sorry for the delayed response.

As far as I know, CPanel will not allow you to assign an alias to an addon domain. I found a way around this limitation by setting up the short domain as an addon as well, but set up redirection with direct translation from the short domain to the full domain. When configuring the redirect, make sure to check the box for “Wild Card Redirect”. Here’s a video tutorial showing how and where to set it up in CPanel: youtu.be/krdwEaUjZsk
