Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Persistent slug/URLRESOLVED – UPDATE:
ONE part of the issue was because I didn’t know there was another ‘trash’ to take out. WP won’t allow two URLs/permalinks to have identical slugs, so I kept getting sequential slugs (slug1, slug3, slug4) until I found and deleted permanently all pages that had these slugs.
The MAIN remedy was as I posted just above, Tim.
Good luck and be well,

Lost and Found Pets – doctorEQ
Counting and charting lost and found pets (dogs, cats & other pets) on Craigslist may help us know when to predict earthquakes. I’ll show you how to do it.
https://www.doctoreq.com/predict/lost-and-found-pets/ – Cached – SimilarFocus Keyword: Lost and Found Pets
Your focus keyword was found in:
Article Heading: Yes (1) (Top of the page says “Craigslist: Lost and Found Pets” although it looks kind of crummy displayed/repeating right under the page title)
Page title: Yes (1) (“Lost and Found Pets”)
Page URL: Yes (1) “www.doctoreq.com/predict/lost-and-found-pets/”
Content: Yes (1) (top of the page: “I have not been keeping track of (and charting) lost and found pets for a couple of decades. With a renewed concern for earthquakes, right after Fukushima”)
Meta description: Yes (1) (I know, useless. In case it IS used, I entered this: “Counting and charting lost and found pets (dogs, cats & other pets) on Craigslist may help us know when to predict earthquakes. I’ll show you how to do it.”)SEO Title: “Lost and Found Pets – doctorEQ”
Meta Description: “Counting and charting lost and found pets (dogs, cats & other pets) on Craigslist may help us know when to predict earthquakes. I’ll show you how to do it.”
Am I getting it?

In reply to: [Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast]Follow-up question….re: Focus Keywords Phrase
(I get it about the un-needed Meta Descriptions.)
How can I use a focus keyword phrase like “earthquake prediction” instead of having to pick one, like “earthquakes” or “predictions”?
I’ll go with one word if that’s what’s most effective…and am glad to learn this before I flesh-out all my pages.
I like it when all the “Your focus keyword was found in:…” are “Yes” and I bet the search engines do, too.
TIA

Gotta love an informed and direct answer. You have helped me remove several major roadblocks between my being ready to un-hide from the search engine spiders.
Many thanks

In reply to: [Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] – Meta DescriptionsDone.
Learning this new language, it took me until now to realize that this setting refers to the same “meta descriptions” we no longer care about.
Thank you!

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Enable gzip compression for certain files?I Googled “directives for browser caching” and at least kind of know what we’re talking about here. (Sorry, I am quite the noob). Now if I can just figure how to know if they are deployed…

In reply to: [Plugin: W3 Total Cache] enable gzip compression for certain files?duplicate, sorry. Answer from Frederick was “The default W3TC settings enable compression, be sure that the directives for browser caching have been deployed and you will see compression being applied. Best to minify files as well for best results.”
Now if I can figure out what they are and how to know if they are deployed….
