That is also what I thought at the begining but when I tried to do some selection filters I had some trouble.

For example if I have sub-cat Software/Security/Anti-virus and Software/Security/Encryption, and also Website/Security/Anti-virus and Website/Security/Encryption WP can show easy category filter menu so user can select only posts inside software/security.

But if I create only Software and Websites root cats with security, anti-virus, encryption as tags, then how to produce easy menu or index pages that will list Security posts from Software category only ?

Do standard WP installation permit such thing ? or may be there some plugin for this, or should I create one myself ?

Yes I called a page “index” nothing to do with some default index.xxx php or html page.

I called it that way as it would be a page containing different indexes.

Using other format do not work, but as they are pages I don’t know if it has some influence ?

WordPress has write access to .htaccess and already wrote it mod_write rules.

My permalink structure is /%category%/%postname%/

Yes, with default permalinks ?p=xxx it work with sub-pages.

Must be a conflict with one of already installed plugins.

I found the answer, that was a cookie problem, I deleted it for blog’s domain and now it works … amazing …

So try simply move your custom theme’s directory out, then WP should use default one back.

Looks like something is wrong with your theme, can you still access wp-admin.php ?

Indeed, fluid-blue theme since I started to modify it some days ago, I noticed many strings are hard coded instead of using auto-localization echo function of WP.

Agreed, a simple yes/no dialog box should be enought.

Same for me, WP 3.0.1 after editing an existing sniplet it do not save anything.

I also got this pronblem and solved it easy (database trick did not work for me). When you “Edit Post” categories dissapeared because in “screen options” it has been unchecked ?!? I don’t know what unchecked it but once checked again, Categories went back !

Thanx for your answer but actually WordPress already show it alphabeticaly sorted when the Post is displayed in main page or as single post, but I don’t want it to be like that, I want it to show parent-to-child sorted categories and if post is part of categories at same level, then do an alphabetical sort.
