In reply to: [Bogo] 404 error for some languages. Using a static main page.I’ve switched the site to polylang, so please don’t refer to it.
I think there was a problem with static main pages, because polylang also gave me 404 errors on the main page until I asked it (in the plugin’s settings) not to put a page_id in the main page’s permalink.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Bogo] 404 error for some languages. Using a static main page.I put a mod_rewrite redirect on / only (no path, no query string) that picks up the browser language from http headers. https://swissorganicwines.ch/? doesn’t do this. I can disable this, plugins and the theme but only for a short while. The problem still exists.

In reply to: [Bogo] 404 error for some languages. Using a static main page. Here: https://swissorganicwines.ch/?
French, etc in the sidebar work fine; Japanese and German get 404 errors.https://swissorganicwines.ch/?lang=ja → 404 (/?lang=ja is the page’s permalink according to WordPress)
https://swissorganicwines.ch/?page_id=129 → /?lang=ja → 404
https://swissorganicwines.ch/?page_id=129&lang=ja → worksI figured out how to enable PHP 5 (OVH does it with a .htaccess SetEnv: https://guide.ovh.com/php5chezovh )
And I’ve been able to upgrade WordPress and everything else, with no incompatibilities left over. I’ll see if the person responsible for the blog can subscribe somewhere to get notified of maintenance releases and security announcements.
I’m seeing this on a site that uses “spam free wordpress”. I’m starting to hate that plugin’s guts, incidentally; it claims I mistyped its captcha about dozens of times, and now that it doesn’t, I’m posting to[] fast.
