Thank you bottleneck. I uploaded the framework via ftp and everything is now just fine.

I just wasn’t being careful.

The problem is solved.

Marventus,

Wow, thanks a bunch!

It seems you are absolutely right on. I have two WP blogs. Each with a different user_login and corresponding password. I signed in with user_login ID #1 and the password for the perichoresis.me site. Voila! The complete dashboard is visible. Many thanks to you for your help.

If I may ask a few basic questions:

I am logged into _wrdp1 via phpMyAdmin. There are two users visible.

1st Question: Should I delete the second user_login?

2nd Question: Can I or should I have the same password for _wrdp1 and _wrdp2?

I have the same problem as AdrialHY with my site.

After I login through https://perichoresis.me/wp-admin, insert username & password, I will straight away go to “profile”. There are only 2 buttons on the left side of my dashboard 1. Dashboard 2. Profile. If I click on the “dashboard” button, I will only see WordPress Blog & Other WordPress News. When I click on the “Screen option” button, there’s only 2 options under the show on screen: wordpress blog & other wordpress news.

I have checked my phpMyAdmin as suggested by govpatel.

You need to go in phpmyadmin and click on your database
look for wp_users and click on browse 1st icon
you will see list of user if you have more then one
check if your ID is one
if is one then click on wp_usermeta
and check if you have this in table 14 wp_capabilities

a:1:{s:13:”administrator”;s:1:”1″;}

I have two user logins because I have two sites. The site I am trying to resolve is user ID 2.

When I click on wp_usermeta and look at row 14 it reads as above, i.e.
a:1:{s:13:”administrator”;s:1:”1″;}

But, as I said, the ID is 2 for the user_login on this site.

Please help.

Update. It almost works; it no longer gives me the shakes.

But, after I enter my user name and password, a redirect message appears and the url bar reads <https://donharris.me/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fdonharris.me%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1>

Thanks Jan,

I am going to try this right now.

I’ll let you know the result.

Hello Jan,

I have some questions about the instructions in the link you sent me.

2. Edit the file and add this code to it, right at the beginning, after the first <?php:

My functions.php file does not have a colon at the end. Should I add it?

wp_set_password(‘password’,1);

Should this text string be added on the same line or the next line?

Put in your own new password for the main admin user. The “1” is the user ID number in the wp_users table.

Do I enter my new password in this text string? I don’t know what I’m supposed to put in my own new password.

Thanks for your help.

Hello Jan,

Yes, I am aware that my self-hosted WordPress installation is a different animal altogether from this www.ads-software.com forum. ;>)

I will try your suggestion later today.

Many thanks to you and all those who are responding to my pleas for help.

I really do hate to be a whiner but . . . it seems that I am “locked out” of access to my WordPress admin account.

Even after using the phpMyAdmin utility courtesy of my hosting service, in motion, and using it to verify my account login and changing my password per the instructions submitted by cubecolour I am still blocked out . . . I can’t login to WP even though I can access this forum.

O.k. I know I’m not a techie and that I am a newbie, but it appear that I’m totally incompetent? Or, is this what happens when one’s account is hacked?

Please, help!

When viewing the phpMyAdmin interface, selecting wp_users:

Yes, I do see my user_login, donharris

Yes, I do see my email address listed, [ redacted ]

I use the same spelling and capitalization to access the wp_login. I’m 100% sure.

And it still “shakes me off.”

I continue to receive these messages:

ERROR: Invalid username.

There is no user registered with that email address.

Aarghh!

Thank you cube.

I have followed the instructions in the section “Through phpMyAdmin.”

I still can’t login at wp-login.php.

I am totally frustrated.

O.k.

InMotion is my hosting provider. I am able to access the cPanel with a section called “Databases.” There are some sql options. What should I do now?

I do appreciate your help. I am not a techie and I am a newbie, so I have several basic questions.

How do I log into the mysql db? How can I tell if the username has been corrupted or changed?

How do I download a copy of my mysql.sql file?

FYI, I run OS 10.6 on my MacBook Pro.

Thanks!

I appreciate your prompt response Funkywebsites.

When I enter my username and password, or my email and password the sign in box shakes and sends this message “ERROR: Invalid username. Lost your password?”

When I seek to recover my password and enter my username or password this message appears “ERROR: There is no user registered with that email address.”

Now what should I do?
