In reply to: Mojo Market place deleted my web pageOK, I got it taken care of. I called Bluehost on the phone and they walked me through it. It turns out when I downloaded the new version of WordPress it went to my main web site and when I tried to download a new theme using Mojo it took over my old site. They did a reinstall from a back up file and everything is cool. I made the new domain I needed and they even got me started in downloading the new version of WP into the right domain. I’m a happy camper. From now on I will backup my site before I make any major changes to any of my web pages.
I do appreciate everyone here who responded and I’ll take at look at the link WPyogi provided just for the information. Thanks everyone!

In reply to: Big upgrade from 3.4.2 to 4.1.1???songdogtech, thanks for the info. It sounds like I can download WP 4.1.1, and the theme I’m looking at, and start my son’s web site from my account without affecting my other web sites. That’s good! I will work at getting his web site going first and then start looking at upgrading my other two sites. Once again, thanks for your help.

In reply to: Big upgrade from 3.4.2 to 4.1.1???Ryan, thanks for your response and I’m sorry for the confusion. I currently host my U-Pick muscadine business and my church on Bluehost so that is where I have my account and I’m using 3.4.2 to run them. If I was to download the new version of WordPress, 4.1.1 and use it for the new site, would it require me to update my other two sites? In other words, will Bluehost let me run two versions of WordPress at the same time. If not, and this is where the new account comes in, then I would have to open an account under my son’s name for his business and then run 4.1.1 on Bluehost for him.
What I’m trying to do is not upgrade my older accounts because they work just fine and I’m such a beginner, the thought of having to upgrade them just seems like an accident waiting to happen. I will probably have to do it eventually, but I’m holding off for now.
Once again thanks for your input, it is appreciated.

In reply to: Adding a link and photo to the home pageOK, it looks like I figured out how to do the link to a web page. I remembered that on my browser (Safari) there is a way to look at the source code. I found a page with word links and looked at the code. The first try didn’t work, but it helped me to recognize what was going on with the code. So, I did a Google Search and found a site that had the same basic code I had seen on the other page. I copied the new source, pasted it to my WordPress site, altered the content to match my needs and presto, it worked. How cool is that! Perseverance pays off. OK moderator, we can close this thread now. Thanks

In reply to: Adding a link and photo to the home pageBTT – UGERNT – I still need info on how to make a link in the text of the home page. I now have two links that need to direct the reader to two different web sites. We are on a bit of a time line and I need to get this working very soon. Thanks to anybody that can help.

In reply to: Adding a link and photo to the home pageI managed to get the photo of Jason Gray to show up on the home page. What I did was copy all the code associated with a single photo in the ‘Church Tour’ page. When that photo showed up, I went to the Media section and copied all the info about the photo I needed and pasted it in place of the photo I now didn’t need. It worked but the format of the page was off with the sidebar 2 showing up below the Jason Gray photo. There was some code at the end of the photo string — /></div> — when I removed that everything fell back into place. I don’t really know what I’m doing, just noodle it out and try something. If it doesn’t work, I put everything back the way I found it and try something else. While this approach seems to be working, it is very time consuming. But there is a certain satisfaction having worked it out. But please, don’t hesitate to give me some input on getting the name ‘Jason Gray’ to act as a button or link to his web page. Here is the web page again,(and how do they get this to act as a link to my web page???) — https://www.lacrossebaptist.org/

In reply to: Adding a link and photo to the home pageWell I did manage to add some color to the text so I can highlight certain words, that’s neat, but I still can’t get the photo onto the home page. I uploaded it to the “Media” holding area and tried using some code I found on one of the other pages that has photos on it, but I can’t get the image to show up at the end of the text about Jason Gray. I have been doing the editing in the “Main index Template” area. I haven’t even tried to do a link yet since i have his web site written out. Any suggestions?

In reply to: Can’t open my site to editI just tried going into my Bluehost site and renaming the plugins.php and plugins-install.php folders, one at a time to see if that would make a difference. I didn’t.

In reply to: Can’t open my site to editI tried login in again this morning and something has changed. When I first try to log in, for a fraction of a second, and I mean it is just a short flash, it looks like the normal login screen appears and then is replaced by the login with the warnings on it. When I type in my info, I get the second warning page and can’t go anywhere after that. Well, at least something is different. I’m going to count that as progress, but then again I’m an optimist.

In reply to: Can’t open my site to editI used phpMyAdmin and found the different items mentioned in your post and changed the value of the active_plugins to a:0:{}. I then tried to logon to the web site and it get the same warnings. No change.

In reply to: Can’t open my site to editI tried the second option of creating a new plugins folder and renaming the original one to plunings.hold then logging in then going back and deleting the newly named plugins folder and re-changing the name or the original back to plugins. I tried this twice and it did not work. I get the exact same warnings that I got before. I also went to the phpMyAdmin function on Bluehost and could find the folders, but I was really not sure which lines under option_values was suppose to change and I figured I could really mess things up with MyAdmin, so I didn’t go that route. I could try, but the layout or order of things in the Bluehost MyAdmin was a little different than that mentioned in the howto article. Do you think I should give it a try? Is there a way to make a backup of the script so if I mess things up I can reinstall all the info?

In reply to: Can’t open my site to editWhen I go to https://www.lacrossebaptist.org/wp-login.php I get the error messages mentioned above about line 349 but the log-in box does show. When I actually try to log in I get another list of warnings. Here is the first couple of lines:
Warning: Header may not contain more than a single header, new line detected. in /home1/lacross3/public_html/wp-login.php on line 349
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home1/lacross3/public_html/wp-login.php:349) in /home1/lacross3/public_html/wp-login.php on line 351
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home1/lacross3/public_html/wp-login.php:349) in /home1/lacross3/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 690
There are a few more warnings that show additional line numbers, but at this point I can’t go any further. Now that I look at it, the first two warnings are the same as what is listed on the other page, but they are the only two. This page has a total of 7.
Thanks for the input, it is appreciated.
