Sorry about that. I’ve been experiencing conflicts around the Spectra plugin and this time I had to remove Spectra, clear the cache, reboot twice, inactivate all the plugins and reactivate them one by one to get rid of the problem. Hopefully it’s all gone now and you can access the site and answer my question about line spacing. I’m now done with Spectra.

    Thanks!

What would I add to that to tighten up the line spacing.

The only database is Information schema. In that there is a table named “tables”. Is that what you are referring to? All of the info there appears to have the prefix “information_schema”. I don’t know if you can access it but the URL of the database is https://rockland.web-dns1.com:2083/cpsess2577163667/3rdparty/phpMyAdmin/index.php. I tried to add a screenshot but I couldn’t figure out how to attach it here – it wants a URL.

“Did you use the WHC tools to ensure that your user is good to go on the db?” I’m not sure what tools you’re referring to. I looked under databases and that told me that “There are no databases associated with your account.”

I’ve never had these problems before. In years past I’ve done websites in Drupal & joomla (as well as html). From my recollection, phpmyadmin behaved differently back then.

Are you using the same username and password to reach the database as the previous install?

That’s where I started but I’ve tried others and nothing works

Are you sure the table prefix is wp_ ? Yes, but it isn’t creating a database at all

Has the user in your db connection been granted all rights on the db you are trying to use? I’m assuming so, its my hosting account and I have to sign in

If you are starting from scratch, why don’t you just use the tools provided by WHC and install a fresh instance? I’ve tried that too. Much the same results

This last message came into my junk file and the previous one which I’ve just seen now seems to have disappeared completely.

So the problem still persists and I will now work through Roxy’s reply.

I followed your instructions – I don’t know how it was different from what I did before but the problem disappeared. I tried switching to different themes and everything seemed Ok. However when I started customizing and putting things back, the problem came back but this time it was 4 different WooCommerce blocks that appeared below the Allproducts block: “Shop by Category”, “New In”, “Fan Favourites”, & “Best Sellers”, one on top of the other. I have never used those blocks anywhere.

I’m not sure exactly when they appeared. I hadn’t done a lot so I’m going to have to start over and build one step at a time to figure out when they appear.

So anyway, thanks for your help. I’ll let you know when I’ve isolated the problem.

I think you may have misunderstood the problem. I want to use the all products widget, so deleting the code doesn’t solve anything.
The problem is that when I add the widget I get 2 of them stacked one on top of the other. Depending on what theme I’m using, they may have different typographies and I haven’t figured out how to change the typography of either.
I have tried numerous themes and I get the same problem in all of them even the storefront theme.

“I’d love to check this message and the block code, do you mind sharing a screenshot of it with us?”

The only code that I seem to be able to access is the Theme File Editor. How do I access the code for a block?
This is what I get when I click the “Attempt Block Recovery” Button

“Have you added any widget on those areas? If so, can you share a screenshot with us of them?”

This is the WooCommerce sidebar in Astra. The font is way too big and i can’t find a way to reduce it.

“It’s super hard to check it without seeing the live site, so the best way to do that is asking for some screenshots to visualize it better!”
20 yrs ago when I was working in html, I could set up an entire website online and access it with the index.html file without using a domain name. I have a webspace with another website in it. Can I set up this wordpress site in that space with access thru some sort of index file?

    Thanks for your help

I recently added the plugins Editor Plus and Stackable in the hopes thayt they might help me get to the bottom of this. They seem to have a lot of options butI haven’t had a chance to really delve into them and they haven’t changed the problem with the “allproducts” duplication

I’m not sure exactly what you are asking for. I’ve already sent links to the screenshots (twice) that showed that the ‘all products’ section shows up twice.

When I pull up edit for the shop page I get a message:
“This block contains unexpected or invalid content.” with a button for “Attempt Block recovery” When I click that, the block comes up – just the allproducts block, no sidebar, etc
this occurs with both the Astra and Storefront themes

“widgets you added on Appearance → Widgets area” – it shows widgets for sidebar, basebar, etc but there is no section for widgets in the body.

The duplication of the ‘All Producta’ widget was not because it was added twice. That was one of the first things I considered and I even rebuilt what I had done from scratch just to be sure – both in storefront and Astra.

    Screenshots – In Astra:

    in Storefront:

Both shots just show the region between the 2 widget expressions. You can see how the fonts have behaved differently.

I am wondering if it is an artifact of Xammpp. Way back when I was working in html I could build a website online without hooking it to a domain and access it through the index.html file. Can I do the same sort of thing with WordPress? Then others would be able to see what I’m talking about both frontend and backend.

I had replied to the email (my mistake) about a week ago and was waiting for a reply.

    Here’s what I wrote:

Thanks for your answer. I went back to the storefront theme and it also duplicates the ‘allproducts’ widget. I took screenshots from both Astra and Storefront but I don’t see anywhere how to attach them to this. The type size changes between in the 2 versions in Astra but not in Storefront. How can I tell whether a particular piece of text is ‘body’, ‘H1-H6’, etc.

Thanks for the feedback. Your initial reply caused me to check out other themes with the ‘all products’ woocommerce block. It’s a slow process but I think it is going to work.
