Thanks for your feedback. In essence, I finally came to somewhat the same conclusion. What I did was eliminate the multisite function on the local MAMP site and uploaded the exported database and files as a single WordPress install. I placed this into a sub folder on the server so it can be “cloaked.” Once everything is as people would like to see it, my intention is to move the site to the root directory and then “convert” it back to a multisite install. Does that sound like it would work?
Don’t know why I did not think of this sooner.
