Try this plugin on a staging site and it should work fine.
Its probably a plugin conflict or similar.

A recent backup would save the day. options-general.php looks after the general options page, but doesn’t save any data. So therefor it must be in the database. So you need access to your hosting providers control panel, download the database, try and locate where your site url is saved. Replaced it and finally import it back. If it sounds too daunting, you might want to invest some $$$ and get a professional developer to do it. Its costly but reduces the hassle and stress.

In reply to: Lost site access after changing the url under general settingsP.SS options-general.php does not actually store the site url that you inputted into the page. So if its not there you can’t change it. My only other idea is that such information is stored in the database.
Are you sure there is no backup?
