  • Okay, so GoDaddy did a mysql patch last night that stopped all mysql servers – I just had to do a restart to get it going again, so if you have GoDaddy, give that a try. Would have been nice if they took care of it since I have a managed plan, but oh well, it’s fixed…

    Me too. I have a dedicated server with 5 sites. I made no recent changes and this morning all my sites display “Error establishing a database connection” I am still evaluating.

    [Resolved]Thanks so much – I did this from the page you recommended: “As a plugin-based alternative, you could try Configure SMTP. It “Configure SMTP mailing in WordPress, including support for sending e-mail via SSL/TLS (such as GMail).” I would imagine it is the google apps and I used my google apps info for the plugin. So for those using google apps, install the plugin, fill it out and it works.

    Thanks for the info – looks good. Unfortunately, I am moderate with PHP and new to working with WordPress and was hoping to use this as a learning experience so I am looking for something a little more detailed. In the meantime, I can use the “old” themeing instructions and incorporate what is in the link at codex – it does seem very detailed. Thanks again and if anyone knows of a step-by-step tutorial type of instruction that would be awesome. Or if anyone wants to write the book, I will pay $30 for another book:)
