    Even after googling, searching in support forums, and after I disabled the the Classic Editor I have no idea how to leave the “code view”. I don’t know, what’s wrong in my backend or what I oversee. I tend to give up. Thanks.

    Thanks. As I wrote earlier: When I switch from “Page” to “Blocks”, then it says “no block selected”.

    No matter, which of the two blocks I click on – there is only the headline, and all the rest of the text, no own block for the footnotes – “no block selected” remains, nothing else in teh sidebar.

    Entering

    .footnote {...}

    into the additional CSS changes nothing, no matter what I write into the brackets.

    “Code view”, I don’t know. It doesn’t help that my backend is in German. But when I click on Block Editor and then on the three dots, my backend for a posts looks like this.

    It doesn’t change, whether I check Spotlight or Fullscreen mode. I guess the problem is I use a plugin called “Classic Editor”?

    I don’t get it. I was able to insert a new paragraph block, but it all still is html in one large block – it just adds:

    <!-- wp:paragraph -->
    <p></p>
    <!-- /wp:paragraph -->

    And when I switch from “Page” to “Blocks”, then it says “no block selected”. The whole editor looks different than e.g. here: https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/wordpress/blocks/convert-blocks/ – more like html editor within a block.

    I don’t use the block editor normally. But now I switched for testing and the whole content on the linked site is in one large block. And I’m not able to add one: The “+” in the blue square is greyed out, and when I hover the mouse between title and paragraph or at the very bottom, the blue line with the “+” does not show up.

    Can I simply add some custom CSS, so the footnote styling would work on every page of my website? Because this is not the only content page containing footnotes.

    Thanks for trying, Sophie, but unfortunately they do both not work. That’s not a real problem, don’t bother much. I could live with the social icon disappearing into white squares at the end of blue pages or I could use other backgroung colors like red or green. I just thought it would be fun to completely invert the white/blue from the starting page.

    I did not assigned any classes myself. As said, I’m not a coder. Just found these code snippets somewhere on the web after I did not make progress with the block editor. The Loudness theme seems quite new, and I like it a lot – it’s bold and fast. The minor hassles are worth it.

    Thanks for trying, but that doesn’t work. The social icons still turn to white squares, when hovering over them. My understanding of programming is very limited. Maybe it has something to do with the quote “Links in containers with the primary background color get special treatment” in the style.css, because I think that’s what blue is here.

    But even if a code snippet would override the white hovering with the theme’s default one, that won’t win much – in fact, it’ll be even worse: Default hover is blue, so one this blue page, there won’t be an effect at all.

    I guess I have to live with the white squares in the footer. Or ditch blue as background color and only use red, green and yellow for it.

    Sorry, if this wasn’t clear: I meant to change the hover color in the footer, not the background color. Because when I use your code suggestion, even with a red footer the social icons turn to white squares when hovering over them. Same as with blue now.

    But because I want to play around with the page mentioned above, I moved the official portfolio to a different URL.

    Thank you, Sophie.
    I use your recommended plugin solution, so for now I chose the layout that includes the categories and tags for projects. (Maybe the better solution anyway after adjusting image sizes, because otherwise blog and portfolio would have looked too similar.

    The later, I activated the projects via the toggle in my Jetpack settings.
    When I enter the [portfolio] shortcode, the content doubles on this page.

    I want the style from the second layout, but only the first one shows types and tags. (And do you know, where I have to look, when I want to change Wording from “Typen” to “Agency”?

    Yes, I don’t know why, but I had to use the Starting Page template, not the Index template to generate a blog page. It works now.
    It’s the first time I use the block editor, I have not checked everything.
