Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Failure to updateWe’re on a one-click install and although we’ve got access to a freelance developer I don’t think he’d appreciate the work right on Christmas! I guess we’ll just wait until the New Year…
I got that error too! Fortunately my site’s reverted entirely back to the previous install rather than getting stuck half way through the upgrade – I won’t be trying it again until I’m sure how to fix it!
I’ve contacted my host with the error and they’re also telling me it’s to do with a non-existent file, “wp-includes/user.php”. Am I wrong in thinking this is a WordPress update issue, and not an individual site issue, if that’s the case?

In reply to: Site has vanishedHey,
Just in case this hasn’t resolved (and regardless of the fact it’s a .com website), updating themes can cause this kind of thing.
Have you built your own using another theme as a basis? I know whenever I update Bueno my individually-built theme goes absolutely to pot, half the website disappears and the other half is comprehensible on some computers, whereas on others it looks (sort of) okay. You should try reverting back to previous theme installs if you’re still having issues with your site.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Your Focus Keyword Was Found In…The plugin’s only designed to use one keyword so you are technically entering “webdesigncanada” as the keyword there… There’s an article about it somewhere on the Yoast site.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Update to 1.6 make the site errorI had this issue with another plugin, it took the whole site down. Try pausing Cloudflare and then reinstalling the update. It worked for me.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] "keyword doesn't appear in the first paragraph"I think I’ve found a potential explanation for the issues we’re facing.
This post implies the issue arises if you use anything besides a simple <p> to format your text following <h1>.
In our case, we’re using <p style=”text-align: justify;”>. Wrapping the text ( <p><p style=”text-align: justify;”> text </p></p>) doesn’t do any good. However, disposing of <p style=”text-align: justify;”> text </p> entirely and replacing it with a simple <P> text </P> clears up the issue.
Unfortunately this isn’t an option for us because of our theme and style guidelines, but it might help someone.
Still, very annoying that this appears to be a longstanding bug that’s not yet been fixed.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] "keyword doesn't appear in the first paragraph"I’m getting this issue too – and it doesn’t seem to matter whether I’m editing a scheduled/saved post or writing a new one. It’s completely random but definitely becoming a more frequent issue.
I’ve searched high and low for a fix but can’t find one. Some people on this forum have previously suggested an issue an older PHP script (I think 3.4 from memory). We’re using the latest PHP script though.
I’m pretty certain it’s a bug and I wish someone would fix it. By their nature our posts aren’t very long and the issue is causing most of our posts to go to an amber light instead of a green one.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Your Focus Keyword Was Found In…This very occasionally happens with me too, but usually editing the slug to for example wordpress-posts-page will rectify the issue. You can always change it back to wordpress-posts if you prefer – amending the slug seems to cajole it into recognising the keywords. It’s definitely a bug.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Not picking up keyword data in posts since updateAny clues?
I’m having a similar problem – the plugin is picking up and retaining certain data (e.g. Meta Description, length of post, alt-tags) but it’s having a hard time picking up keyword placement. As a consequence it’s extremely difficult to get a green light – most of my posts are now amber.
I believe this is an issue with the recent update as it wasn’t happening before.
It shouldn’t effect your optimization – the content’s there, and as long as Google etc can pick it up (which I presume they can) the keyword data is valid. However it’s annoying because that section of the plugin is definitely not working as it should. Alright for users who KNOW how to place a keyword, not so good for our writers who often don’t.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Duplicate or no page title driving me mentalThe fix is the FAQ for the plugin, you need to remove some code from your header file. Look under “The SEO title output for the plugin doesn’t work as expected”.

In reply to: [TinyMCE Templates] Problems with WP 3.8Hello dhoffmann,
I’m just wondering how you fixed the other issues you’ve described? We’ve having the exact same problem after the update.
