It seems that the developer is MIA – a lot of us are awaiting responses for different things; but I will see if I can help.

Normally when you see that message (at least for me previously) it means that the form is actually not completing the submission. If you have other forms on your website that are not connected to “Email Before Download” are you able to submit those successfully (using the same contact form plugin CF7) without any error messages?

Below is one of the biggest and most common error fixes within Email Before Download.

With email before download and recent wordpress updates, the email field in contact form 7 MUST BE your-email or else it will not work.

In your wordpress dashboard settings > General – your WordPress Address and Site Address MUST BE all lowercase. I have no idea why but this seemed to fix issues for some.

Let me know if you can submit a regular contact form on your site with out email before download associated with it first. If you cannot successfully submit, you need to configure your SMTP settings / plugin.

Just installed this plugin and my website did not load right away and stopped at a white screen with the URL loaded.. I instantly got an email from my IT team “Uh, website down?”.

Not too sure if this results from your error but none the less, plugin removed.

Man, I am sorry that everyone is having this issue still.. I too am still encountering this issue but for now I have built my own custom form, looped it through Download Monitor and all is well. If some of you need help around this (until there is a fix), I may be able to help you out with my solution for now. PM me.

All you will need is:
– A custom built form
– ACF Plugin
– Download Monitor

Question: For the gents having the blank page / URL issue, what server are you running? IIS, Apache, Linux ect?

Note: I have created a fresh instance of wordpress locally with only the necessary plugins for Email Before Download – does not work – same issue.

Yupp… Everything went wrong after the 4.4 update and absolutely nothing has changed from my working staging site to my non working live site, except the wordpress version from 4.3 to 4.4.

I am not 100% sure why I am seeing the “Object Moved” message but it does seem to be something new within wp that others are experiencing as well in different posts.

Reading through, it does seem that we are all having the same URL issue (not error) but this is what is happening on my end. Once the user completes the form and clicks download, EBD does it’s job in displaying the ajax download URL for the user to download, but once clicked, it sends the user to a blank page with the “Object Moved” message along with the long tail URL as mentioned throughout these posts: (/wp-content/plugins/email-before-download/download.php?dl=28a23c596931898900933729ceeccbbb). Instead of providing the user with the download.

Live Website: WordPress v4.4 – EBD does not work 100%
Staging Website: WordPress v4.3 – EBD works 100%

Plugins running on both websites Live and Staging:
– Contact Form 7 v4.3.1
– Email Before Download v3.4
– Advanced Custom Fields v4.4.4

The issue still remains for most of us. As mentioned above, we are also not using Mail Chimp with our theme and encountering the same errors (/wp-content/plugins/email-before-download/download.php?dl=28a23c596931898900933729ceeccbbb).

I have two versions of our site running, one Live and one Staging. When upgrading our live website to 4.4, EBD no longer works and throws the error above BUT when running the tests on my staging site (WordPress 4.3) EBD works perfectly, no issues what so ever.

We really need a fix for this or we will have to search else where for something similar ??

I am wondering if you have provided an update to the plugin as of yet or a fix? With xmas over now, I am hoping this plugin will have an update sooner then later?

Thanks for trying to get us an updated version, we have 100+ downloads that are not working.

UPDATE: This issue has been fixed.

Note – If you try to install the pro version of the plugin by any other means besides uploading via .zip – the plugin breaks.

I would like to bump this topic please. I am looking for a similar solution where I want to have a checkbox called (send conformation). If the checkbox is selected then they user will receive the email associated with that form – if the checkbox if left empty, then the user will not receive the email.

Any help will be appreciated ??

I am looking for a similar solution in regards to an “opt-out” selection.

I have a registration form with an “opt-out” option which is supposed to prevent any ongoing communications between the user and the website. Within the website, after the user registers – there is a “referral” form that the user can fill out to refer someone else to the website.

Im looking for a solution that says:

If the registered user is logged in and has selected the “opt-out” option, then do not send the email upon submit – but if the logged in user has not selected the “opt-out” option, then send the conformation email upon submit.

I am also using Contact Form 7 for the referral form, if that makes a difference?
