In reply to: [Academic Blogger's Toolkit] WordPress Version Check (5.2.4 vs 5.3)The bleeding edge version that was just released a few days ago does not support the current version of WordPress.
5.3 should be releasing November 12, which should then allow you to download that version.
If you need to download older versions of the plugin, you can do so at the bottom of this page.

In reply to: [Academic Blogger's Toolkit] Hide Bibliography ListHi there.
Next time, please post any issues you’re having here: https://github.com/dsifford/academic-bloggers-toolkit/issues.
You can hide the bibliography completely by adding the following to your site’s custom CSS:
.abt-bibliography { display: none; }

In reply to: [Academic Blogger's Toolkit] Activation ErrorHi,
In the future please direct all support questions to the github page.
For now though, I believe your issue is due to your PHP version being < 7.0. In the www.ads-software.com page, you’ll see that the plugin requires PHP version >= 7.0.
Hope that helps.
@ultimatemembersupport I agree with @solernet. Your response does nothing to clarify what that button does or why someone would need to use it.
Please clarify.
Thanks.

In reply to: [Academic Blogger's Toolkit] Fatal error – can’t access plugin settingsHi,
From the looks of it, it seems like your PHP version might be outdated based on the error messages.
Can you confirm that you’re using at least PHP 5.6 (put preferably, PHP version > 7.0)?
Thanks.
Also, in the future, please submit issue reports on GitHub. https://github.com/dsifford/academic-bloggers-toolkit/issues

In reply to: [Academic Blogger's Toolkit] Activation ErrorHi @nunoemeneves,
I recently increased the minimum PHP version requirement to 5.6. It appears that your server is using a PHP version under 5.6, so the fix would be to update PHP.
Side note: PHP 5.6 is at end of life status right now so I would recommend updating to the latest version of PHP which is PHP 7.2.
Any version of PHP < 5.6 is an extreme security risk so I really can’t stress it enough that you should absolutely consider updating, with or without the ABT plugin!
More info here: https://github.com/WordPress/servehappy/blob/master/DRAFT.md
Hope that helps.

In reply to: [Academic Blogger's Toolkit] Importing articles with footnotesHi there,
Great to hear that you’ve been recommended the plugin! Very cool. Hope your friend has found it useful.
You are correct that Footnotes haven’t been the primary focus of the plugin since its inception.
I’ve received a number of requests for them and, with the exception of the little workaround that I made available, I still have not had the time just yet that I’d need to devote to it. I will say though that I think it’s an important feature and one that I am interested in supporting in the near future (Gutenberg preparation has demanded pretty much all of my available attention for the time being).
I wasn’t aware of the Mammoth plugin. That looks pretty neat from first glance. I think it would be totally possible for the plugin author to support Gutenberg if he decides to devote time to it.
At present, there’s no way to import documents with citations/footnotes from Word or other word processing software with this plugin. Theoretically possible in the future, but no idea when I’d be able to get around to that.
Could you please enlighten us about what you have in mind regarding the future of your plugin in the Gutenberg environment?
Gutenberg will definitely be supported. The Gutenberg API is still pretty unstable at this moment, but I’ve been watching closely.
And will the import of footnoted texts be part of this future?
I’d first have to implement first-class footnote support before being able to import text with footnotes. The first-class support has been on my radar and is something I’ve been meaning to dive into when time allows.
After that happens, I might consider whole document importing, but again I can’t give you a reasonable time-frame as to when that might happen.
Thanks for the feedback. Happy New Year!
OP is probably using WP-CLI. That triggers this warning.

In reply to: [Academic Blogger's Toolkit] ABT with CKeditor pluginHi Caroline,
It currently does not. However, if you’d like, create an issue in the github repository and I’ll check into what it would take to make it work when I get some free time.
I don’t normally make exceptions for non-standard editor types, but because that specific editor seems to prioritize accessibility for the visually impaired, I’ll make an exception this time.

In reply to: [Academic Blogger's Toolkit] For all postsHi there.
Please direct all future questions to the github repository for this project. https://github.com/dsifford/academic-bloggers-toolkit/issues
To briefly answer your question: You are correct. This is for two reasons:
1. Saving references to the database outside of the current post would create unnecessary “database noise” for not much return value. In its current form, the only thing that is saved is a small fragment of data as a single value in postmeta and citations are then computed and regenerated on the fly from that data when you load the post edit page.
2. I’m stubborn and just don’t think WordPress is the best place to managing citations.I’d recommend using a reference manager like Zotero to manage all your references in a central, safe location and then just import the references you need from the reference manager using RIS format.
Hope that helps. If you need further clarification, please create an issue in the github repo linked above.

In reply to: [Academic Blogger's Toolkit] If you want what it does – super. But only then. The overall UX of this forum is horrendous. This wouldn’t even be acceptable in 1996. This is hardly the user’s fault. Posting once wouldn’t be a problem if we were given some type of visual confirmation that a post was pending.
