I reinstalled – and disabled autoupdate – and maybe that fixes it. Otherwise, the plugin has been very reliable, so I’m guessing it may have succumbed to autoupdate.
That happened to me too. I renamed it in FTP and was able to log in and delete the plugin and now site is working again. Same error message about tutorial. I hope we get a response soon.

In reply to: Auto-update warning in 5.5Fortunately, updates are going smoothly – and the annoying (to me) email messages to tell me of the updates are not appearing – so, for what it’s worth, no problems seem evident (yet).

In reply to: Auto-update warning in 5.5Thanks much for digging into this. Far over my head. I noticed the message appears for several sites I maintain, but not all. Maybe it’s a bug in latest WordPress release. I will know better when a plugin or theme is supposed to update automatically. For now, everything is working. Again, thank you very much for uncovering this information.
davidHi, James.
It WORKS! Thanks so much for fixing it so quickly. (Actually, it might be something to consider for a future Jetpack option, as it could serve as a secure logon option, requiring an email to verified user prior to allowing login.)Regards,
davidThis problem of having Jetpack see the website’s URL instead of my personal URL at login has resurfaced. To login, Jetpack first flags the URL and then sends an email to let me recover my access to website. I do hope this can be permanently fixed. I look forward to your help. Thanks,
davidAwesome! You fixed it. Thanks so much. I’ve used WordPress for a decade and this is my first time to use Jetpack and I’m very impressed with all it does.
Thank you. For some reason I did not see it on my site yesterday. Thanks for the help. And for responding so promptly. I’m impressed with how well Defender works.
Thanks for responding. When I go to my login page, Jetpack blocks my login and tells me that my IP is suspicious and that it will send an email to allow me to login. However, it does not show my IP address. Instead, it shows a Cloudflare IP address (and my website runs on Cloudflare). This happens sometimes, but not all. The email does allow me to logon, so it’s not a deal-breaker, but seems to be a bug.
My response was unclear. on Ipchicken.com, I see my personal ip. On the URL you listed, I see the web host IP, and on Jetpack I see a third IP address. Doesn’t make sense to me. Thanks for any insight.
I see my personal IP address. My ISP changes it every 4-5 months and it works well with any htaccess settings I do. Jetpack shows a different IP address from that and from the URL you listed. However, the site is on cloudflare, so that may not be a concern. I am inferring that jetpack shows the website IP and not the IP of where I am? Thanks for your insight.

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] events showing in mc-events folderThanks. Deleting from database sounds a little risky. Since you say it’s harmless, I’ll just leave it alone. I appreciate your prompt response, as this is a great calendar.

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] events showing in mc-events folderIt’s just a fraction, maybe 20 or so. I had never noticed it until I was doing a scan of all URL entries and noticed this. My guess is it’s a bug has been there for some time, but doesn’t show up. It hasn’t caused problems, but I would like to keep old stuff off the database, if possible. Thanks for any help in a cleanup. Regards,

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] events showing in mc-events folderJoe,
I did a detailed check and these mc-events entries go from 2015 through 2018, all for events that have been deleted so no meta data is needed. Do mc-event entries stay permenantly, even when the event is in the past and has been removed? I would like to clean up this database of old entries if possible. Please advise. Thanks,

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] events showing in mc-events folderThanks for explaining that. These events are four years old and each year I delete old events. The pretty permalinks has always been turned off. i was hoping to find a way to delete these out-of-date entries. Thanks,
david
