  • There are two settings. You have set weekly to 3. What about daily? Can you post a screen print of the backup listing? I’m guessing you have a setting error, since you mentioned the same is happening for multiple websites.

The settings are separate for daily and weekly. What are your settings for each?

This is now FIXED for me. Thanks a big bunch to Owain for his patience in helping me through this. My problem was that newer versions failed because of my htaccess allow/deny setup in the wp-admin folder (the IP was just for me to give 403 to hackers). With Owain’s help, I added the IP of my server (gleaned from my cpanel) to the allow list and now it works fine with current version. I’m very pleased to get this resolved. Support was SUPER. Thank you.

Thanks. I had deleted the root htaccess and replaced it with a vanilla WordPress htaccess and had same problem – but I had not attempted to login. I had contacted Bluehost tech support and was told that a PHP index to the theme (?) had been corrupted (way over my head…). I’ll mark this closed as it was mostly for my education. If it happens again and the steps to correct fail, I’ll open a fresh support ticket. Thanks for your time and patience in explaining this.

The server is Linux. Normally, I activate the default secure htaccess before adding custom code. This time I activated Zencache and copied the gzip code and pasted into custom field first, so that the first activation of root htaccess had the gzip code. Was that my problem? Not installing the default secure htaccess first? Puzzling to me, as it’s always been rock solid for me in the past. My main fear is having the problem repeat. If it happened again, any suggestions on how to fix without doing a restore? Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

    Hi, Paul,
I just upped to 256M and still doesn’t work. Thanks for the tip, anyway. Also, is there any info I might share with my web host administrator that might help them advise on this? I don’t know anything about server administration, but would be glad to share a non-technical explanation if that may help. Thanks,
    david

    Hi, Cuvelier,
I just tried again, this time with just the database – and it failed. I hope that info is useful. Thanks for your help in resolving this.

    Hi, Paul,
I’m not sure where this is. I enabled support (or think I did) by clicking that support button, but I’m not sure what next step is. Thanks for your help in this.

    Hi, Paul,
I didn’t mean to confuse you. Those were different hosts. I did just now enabled support for one of the sites where the latest isn’t working. I appreciate your help. Are you automatically notified of this or do I need to do anything? Thanks much,

    Hi, Paul,
I tried the latest version, 3.2.4, and that never got to the step of creating zip. I installed the suggested command in wp-config and there was no change. I reinstalled 3.1.4 and all is well again. For what it’s worth, here is server info for this site:

    PHP
    ZipArchive	Yes
    DirectoryIterator FOLLOW_SYMLINKS	Yes
    User	cic4925gop
    Group[s]	inetuser
    Version	5.4.19

    Disabled Functions	No
    open_basedir	No
    Max execution time	No

    Server
    zip command	zip
    mysqldump command	mysqldump
    Server	Apache
    OS	Linux

I hope this helps because I really like the plugin. Thanks for your help,
    david

I encourage you to wait. There have been other problems here and there, but this is a fantastic plugin. I plan to hold at 3.1.4 and test new versions on a backup site. Some months back I had a problem with .htaccess file being deleted, but this was eventually fixed, once developer was aware of it. I feel confident this instability is temporary as recent code changes are reviewed.
