Thanks for this, the reason why i want searching disabled for visitors is because the site is being used as an intranet and requires users to be authenicated to view the posts.

Delete the plugins manually via FTP or rename them.

To view the home page source navigate to your index.php in the root directory.

I edit mine in dreamweaver and overwrite the existing file.

I was using PHP 5.3.10 previously and upgraded to 5.3.20, made no difference
