You might also have to use the plugin’s cache flushing functionality after the update if it’s not immediately successful.

    Thanks for your email maw01,

Hope you don’t mind us replying here to keep a record.

Honestly, still no ideas as to why Facebook is returning empty albums that aren’t visible anywhere else. We can only speculate that there might some caching on Facebook’s end.

Regardless, we’ve updated the plugin to Version 0.1.3 which will hopefully skip empty albums. Please update your copy, and let us know if you’re still unsuccessful.

    Thanks.

    Hi maw01,

To be honest, I’m not entirely sure why that would be happening.

Would you mind sharing a link to the gallery, and your Facebook ID if possible?

Alternatively, if privacy is an issue, please email it to: mail [at] dubtools.com and we’d be happy to take a look.

    Cheers

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated.

We totally understand the need for more albums and photos, and yes, it is on the wishlist, it’s just a matter of time.

Technically speaking, we chose to limit them because of the way the data is pulled from Facebook – it’s API works on a default limit of 25 itself.

We also kept it limited to 25 to reduce the time that the plugin takes to collect the data and cache it. Too many requests really slows the process down on your server. Optimising that process is part of the wishlist.

Initially, we chose to target the plugin as a way to direct visitors to your Facebook page, rather than duplicate it.

Another angle you might want to consider as well – this plugin was designed purposely to avoid having to authenticate with Facebook. Therefore, we’re limited to showing only “public” photos, and some other restrictions as well. Ultimately, you might get a better result from a plugin that does authenticate with Facebook.

Not trying to talk you out of it – but just want you to know that our roadmap is slightly alternative to the other plugins available.

    Thanks for your feedback.
Sorry about the long answer – hope it helps.

Sorry, there’s no way to pick a specific album just yet.

That functionality is definitely on our wishlist, but we don’t have a set date for it.

It looks like that error will occur if you don’t have any albums or photos in your Facebook account, or (possibly) none are accessible publicly.

We’ll definitely fix the plugin to allow for that occurrence, but could you confirm this might have been the cause?

If you had just made a new Facebook account without photos, I can see this occurring. If that’s the case, I imagine it may have stopped happening as you’ve added albums or photos to your account?

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Apologies for the late reply,

This error message should only appear when your Facebook photo albums can’t be accessed publicly.

This plugin accesses your photo albums directly via a similar URL, so I can only only suggest trying again, as Facebook may take a while to switch your albums to publicly accessible.

It may require all your photo albums to be public, rather than just one single one, if that’s any help.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful, I can only assume it has something to do with your Facebook account / album settings.

Thanks for your feedback though. We’ll try to accommodate more options as soon as possible.
