  • For starters, to get back to your dashboard, quickly, drag the ninja firewall plugin folder to the wp-content folder, which will deactivate the plugin until you can find out how to clear your IP from the “ban”.

    This doesn’t work any longer. What’s the current way to modify the footer text?

    Thank you! I’ve got all your recommendations set and there are no false positives. Hopefully, this will protect my site from the malicious activities I’ve experienced recently. I’ll update this post later with my status after the next week. Thanks again!

    Thanks for your info. FYI – Simply restoring a recent backup of my SQL data tables, gets me back up and running…so something is being recorded (injected) into one of my tables…and it does happen only when I set NinjaFirewall to “max”…as far as I can tell…that is a trigger, ’cause it’s happened twice. Since I’ve reset my site to NinjaFirewall “defaults”, I’ve not had any issues.

    Just curious if you think your default settings are really all I need to keep hackers from adding & modifying files and folders on my site. That’s my need for your firewall. Thank you!

    Wow! Okay… But I have never had this issue before this (NinjaFirewall is a new plugin), I did not change the default message. I’m on Bluehost VPS server. I may need to do a lot more investigating, apparently… But if you are sure if all security settings are set to “On”, and this doesn’t cause such a message (from somewhere else), then okay. I do have “iThemes Security Pro” installed (again, settings maxed out)… BACKGROUND: it appears I’m constantly under attack from malware…which is trying setting up email spam, apparently. So that’s why the high level of security needed. Thanks! I’ll let you know more about this “banned” issue during my tests. I’ll leave the site “as is” for now and see…NinjaFirewall set to default…and iThemes maxed. Thanks again.

    Yes, I use only one database password for all sites. I change the random 13 alpha-numeric string every year…so my setup makes it easy. Oh, by the way, I have one main domain on bluehost and all other domains are “addon” domains, which each domain root resides as a directory in the root of the main domain… So my hidden config file is accessible to all my domains.

    With your first suggestion, I’ll have to create a separate “hidden” config file, which is doable, and easier than maneuvering around to each directory for my domains when I want to change the password.

    Thanks for your help with this issue.

    Thanks! Yes, like I said, I maintain multiple web sites… I gues a simple solution would be to create separate “XX_files.conf” files for each domain…at least they’d be all in one spot to modify. Here’s an example of my “fies.conf” contents:

    <?
    /** set timezone for server */
    date_default_timezone_set('America/Los_Angeles');

    /** vars for server */
    $path = "/home/xxxcom/public_html";

    /** vars for database credentials */
    $host	 		= "localhost";
    $user 			= "xxxx";
    $pswd 			= "xxxx";

    /** vars for MySQL databases */
    $ep		 	= "xxxx_estateplanningmap";
    $rea	 		= "xxxx_reagentmap";
    $pro	 		= "xxxx_theseminarpros";
    $ref	 		= "xxxx_refractivemap";
    $scheduler		= "xxxx_kdunnscheduler";
    $calendar		= "xxxx_kdunncalendar";

    /** vars for database table prefixes */
    $ep_pre 		= "wp_xxxx_";
    $rea_pre 		= "wp_xxxx_";
    $aaoapa_pre 		= "wp_xxxx_";

    ?>

    Instructions:

    Newsletters?Configuration?System?Permissions. Here’s how you find it… Click on “Configuration” under Newsletters plugin. Then click on “(W)System” located at the top nav bar…as shown below
    —————————————————————————–
    General Subscribers System Emails –>> System Scheduled Tasks API
    —————————————————————————–
    Permissions is located about halfway down.

    Thank you for the suggested help, John. You are correct, sir. I needed to uncheck “Treat product variations separately”. I’m in business, now.

    Thanks again!

    (edited) Disregard my post below the double line. It was a checkbox I did not have checked that resolved this in the plugin’s Settings. Thank you! Fixed!

    Add me to this list. I sell t-shirts… If a customer orders 30 or more shirts (in various sizes) I’d like to apply a discount. Currently, it only applies a quantity discount on one size (variation)– in other words a customer must order 30 large shirts to get a discount…but my customers are ordering 3 smalls, 5 mediums, 15 larges, 10 XL, 5 2X, etc. I want to give them an incentive to accumulate 30 t-shirts to get the discount. Help!

    I also have Widget editing issues after WP 4.0 upgrade. I use Replete/Child theme. When I rename my plugins folder and refresh WP, it displays a top alert that WP works better with bb.. plugins installed. I rename the plugins folder back to plugins and refresh the Widgets editing window and I can now edit my widgets normally, until I go elsewhere. When I return to Widget editing, I’m “locked out” again. This is strange. Hmmm. Should be easy for WP engineers to figure this out. Rename plugins folder, refresh, rename back to plugins, refresh, it works! WT??

    I followed Ricardo Zea’s instructions (6 comments above this one) and it worked perfectly. Copied all files/folders from WP 4.0 download folder, except wp-content folder, to FTP root folder. Refreshed my browser window and now I can drag and drop. Thanks Richardo!
