It does appear that his config file is being rewritten as the db name in the config name_wp711

Thanks WallyO, great information. I got lucky i just happened to be logged into my cpanel so i just grabbed the google and msn verify codes from the header file i have for the actual website (not the blog) and posted them. Thanks for the quick reply and GREAT INFO…

Update, i was able to activate it and i see no errors in cpanel log so i dont know what the issue was.

However question, on a multi site setup when i use subfolders NOT subdomains, do i use the individual website google and bing verify codes or the main NET verify codes on all.

The websites themselves have their own domains and their own verify codes, but the blog sites is all under one domain. So the url for each multisite install is mydomain/site1 mydomain/site2 mydomain/site3 so would i use their own verify or the verify for the mydomain?

I have done just this with my version, however it takes some core code mod to do it. I use my map for members locations. When they visit my other site map it records their visit on the blog version as well. I also removed some of the options for time and such and just left the map selection. You also have to remove the option for map number 4 if you do this because that world map is just too big for the embed.

So yes it can be done however, you do need to be comfortable in some php and html to do this as well as every time there is an update you have to redo your changes. But other than that it does work nice this way.

Sorry that i did not check the plugins first, i think i found the answer, so sorry i thought this was a new issue….

sorry i didnt mean to make it worse, one of those vids shows how to set up the domain properly so i thought since maybe he didnt do something right he might want to watch someone do it on vid. Again sorry about that.

oh and you may or may not need the domain mapping plugin so dont worry about those two vids until you do everything else and check it out.

Take a few min and check these out, they helped me.

I just went thru this and im trying to remember here, i know that if you delete the old site and do not correct the links in admin it will either show a blank page or you will get an error.

I think what you want is under the super admin go to sites, then on that site list click edit on the site you want to edit. And then
you will see

Update siteurl and home as well

There is a checkbox there, click that click save, that should update the url for you.

Im new to this as well but that is what i had to do.

Ok i think i got that plugin deal handled, thanks for that. The MU edit site settings i can activate them there per site.

On last question for me to wrap my head around this.

When i go to register on a sub site it takes me to the registration for the main MU which is not what i want. Is this just the way it is with mu.

Whe someone is on x.com site and registers, i want them to register with x.com and see that page, not the page or registration page of MU. The reason is that my MU was another blog before like y.com and i dont want them to get confused.
