Forum: Developing with WordPress
In reply to: Previous/next post in categoryHey guys, thanks for the help!
I figured it out. The theme function above is only being used for the image background of the previous/next nav. I changed the values to “true” there, which pulled the images from the previous/next posts in the category like I wanted.
Then I had to make a change on the single.php page, which was using get_the_post_navigation. I just had to add the proper $args there and it’s fine.
And yep, modifying a child theme.

In reply to: Previous/next post in categoryI did that and it breaks the theme.

Okay, so I needed to reset the options (thanks for the suggestion!) and add some stuff to my funky homemade child theme. Now it works beautifully!
Thanks for working with me, I purchased the yearly subscription and I’ll stick with it.
Now I just need to update my photos. ??
So when I switch to a basic theme, it works. Something’s wrong with the child theme I created. Ugh.
Just tried the reset options… nothing. Called my hosting provider, there are no restrictions to that directory.
Please help, this is so frustrating. I’m *this* close to just rebuilding the whole site using CSS.
Well, I guess I’ll have to switch to something else. I’m done trying to solve this. Everything checks out. The plugin should be working. It’s not. Oh well.
Hello Cais,
I downloaded a new version of the NextGen Gallery plugin and uploaded it to my server via FTP. Still getting the 403 error. Any other suggestions?
Hmm. Checked permissions, they were set to 755. I even changed them to 777. Still no go…

In reply to: CSS Layout QuestionHi esmi,
Ah, I see about the float right tag. Makes perfect sense now!
Sort out the menu markup? How so?
And as for growth, I’m not concerned about this particular template. The beauty of WordPress is that I can simply swap out the entire template for one that has sub-menu navigation, if I ever need it. For the foreseeable future, I don’t anticipate needing sub menus. I like to keep things absurdly simple on my site. And in a few years time I’ll likely switch out this template or hire someone to build a custom template for me.
Thanks for your response!

I did some troubleshooting, as you suggested. I uploaded a fresh theme, without any changes. Everything was displayed fine.
I changed the height of the main pics, everything’s fine.
Then I changed the font size of the title and description. Bingo. The “leave comment” text is in the wrong place.

Any suggestions? I really need the title to be around 20px, so it would be great if I could fix this.
Thanis!
