In reply to: WordPress update stuck at Copying the required files…I recommend you contact your host and ask for assistance. That’s about all I can tell you with the limited information you’ve provided. I hope you backed up your files and database prior to starting the update.
Sandra,
WordPress is very easy to install. Most major hosts have built-in automated systems to install WordPress on your site. Bluehost is one of the more well-known WordPress hosting services. You can get the most basic deal for like $5 a month. A very well respected host.

The most tricky thing for beginners in setting up a site is getting their domain to point to their webspace location. That’s usually a separate operation from installing WordPress on a site. You can also get your domain name through Bluehost. You basically get the nameserver addresses from your host which you enter into the interface for the domain name service. It’s kind of like getting your phone number in the phone book.
Jerald, I don’t know if you’ve corrected that issue yet but here is a link to a similar issue as you have from a while back. The user corrected the issue by making an adjustment to his .htaccess file: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/please-provide-a-valid-username-2/

In reply to: How to make a website like this one? That site uses the Jupiter theme. Get the Jupiter theme and it should be pretty easy to duplicate the site. Be careful with using the exact same images though. You and your client could be sued for copyright violations.

In reply to: Getting started. Really getting started. You need to look for a host.
You can use https://wordpress.com/ to host. It’s probably the easiest route to go. You can have your own domain name through them and or use a subdirectory of WordPress.com.
Or you can find a regular host like Godaddy, Bluehost, or Pair.com. They all have bells and whistles that make it easy to install WordPress. Once the site is setup, you get your domain implemented with the site so when folks type your domain name they’ll be sent to your site.

In reply to: Broadcast PluginAnother thing. Just installing the broadcast plugin doesn’t make your site a multi-site. There are a lot of other steps you do before installing the broadcast plugin.

In reply to: Broadcast PluginAre you doing a subdomain or directory multi-site?
There are not very many themes that are compatible with multi-site. I have a multisite and use the MH Magazine theme. It works pretty well. That have great support too. Whatever theme you get, make sure the developer is dedicated to that theme for the long haul. When choosing a theme look for one that works well but also can be used on unlimited sites. If you do MH Magazine I think you get to use the premium version on 4 or 5 sites. The free version works well too.
Here’s a link to the supposed best multisite themes (I didn’t write article):

In reply to: [TablePress - Tables in WordPress made easy] “Unexpected token” Error MessageTobias,
Thanks for the usual quick response. Not sure how I ended up without the ‘p’ there. However, I’ve fixed that and it still has no effect on the font size, even with “important”.
