I’m reviving this thread. I have had the same message
An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.
However, I can not find any file named .maintenance in my fiels.
I just upgraded to 3.0.1. I have searched the site completely for a file of that name and it is not there.
Any other suggestions?
