Cloudways just recently took care of it. You will probably need to launch/clone to a new server for it to take effect.
Just talked to Cloudways support as well. They said they wouldn’t install the tools for me because they stop working eventually. Like nosilver4u mentioned though, they did say they were looking into adding EWWW to the default app but wanted it voted for on the user feedback page. Unfortunately they also said that, until that time, there is no way to use these tools on new Cloudways servers. I’m a bit disappointed with Cloudways but it’s reaffirmed how much I actually love this plugin and rely on it.
markjohnl, you’re right that my DO server is almost 6 months old and the Vultr one is brand new. I’m sure that has something to do with it. Did support indicate anything about what they might have done to fix the problem? I will probably reach out to them as well since it sounds like it’s an issue on their end that they are able to resolve.
Not sure if this makes a difference but I don’t have any problems with this plugin on my DO server through Cloudways but as soon as I spun up a Vultr server, I had these same problems. I tried duplicating an app with Ewww functioning correctly from DO to Vultr as well as doing a fresh install of WordPress and Ewww but it didn’t work either time. Just wanted to let you know for trouble shooting purposes.

In reply to: [Posts By Tag] Content short codes not displayingIt only displays the shortcodes if I use the widget in the sidebar and have it set to display the full content of the post. If the plugin is used anywhere else, it works great.

In reply to: [Posts By Tag] Content short codes not displayingI found a workaround for my issue by using the plugin shortcode in a text widget instead of using the plugin’s widget.
