Hey Aaron –
These are files that were removed in WordPress 5.8 — but the updater (annoyingly) doesn’t actually delete them… so they’re just remnants of earlier versions.
Best thing to do is simply delete them.

In reply to: [Alt Text Tools] Only a fraction of images are scanned/capturedHi @vmajor,
Thanks for giving Alt Text Tools a try!
The plugin should include all images that are actually used in your content — there’s no artificial limit, or anything like that. So if an image is in the media library, but isn’t actually used anywhere in the content, it won’t show up in the CSV.
I see you’re using WooCommerce… I’m actually not sure if it will show the alt text for product images, since those aren’t set manually when adding the images. I’m also not sure if Woo will use the Alt Text that’s configured in the media library, or if it will auto-generate based on product details. I’d suggest you test on a specific product/image – check the alt text on the image on the product page, and then add the alt text to the image in the media library and see if Woo updates it on the product page?
If you do need to go through and add alt text for images in the media library, you can do that manually – or The Blog Fixer also has a helpful product for this… it’s a bit more robust than our CSV export tool. https://www.blogfixer.com/image-alt-text-generator-fix/
Hope that helps!

In reply to: [Alt Text Tools] No CSV download, only “Please wait… Loading”Great – glad the incognito trick worked!
And thanks for the positive review, it’s very much appreciated! ??

In reply to: [Alt Text Tools] No CSV download, only “Please wait… Loading”Thanks, that was really helpful. I think the
?fs_blog_admin=true
that’s being appended to the admin-ajax.php request may be interfering.Looks like that might be coming from the WP Activity Log plugin. If you have that installed, can you please try deactivating it temporarily and see if that solves it?

In reply to: [Alt Text Tools] No CSV download, only “Please wait… Loading”Hmm. I was thinking that maybe the Javascript changes in WP 5.6 were the issue, but I just ran it fine on my own blog, which is on 5.6.1.
Since you’re familiar with Chrome Dev Tools – can you please try again, with the Network tab open? When you click the “Download” button, you should see an additional request at the bottom of that list, for admin-ajax.php. It should be a POST request, and the Status should be 200.
(And then a few seconds later, the file should start to download.)
If that all looks correct, the next thing to do would be to ask your host. There may be some other resource limits that they can increase.

In reply to: [Alt Text Tools] No CSV download, only “Please wait… Loading”Hi! Sorry you’re having trouble downloading the file — and thanks for confirming you’ve already addressed the execution time and memory limit.
What version of WordPress are you using? And, where is your site hosted?
Fantastic! Thanks so much, @sbruner! ??

In reply to: [Alt Text Tools] Downloaded Alt Tag CSV is BlankHi,
Thanks for working with me via email. Using the staging site you set up, I was able to find the conflict…it’s something with the SSL Insecure Content Fixer plugin.
We’ll work on fixing this for a future version, but in the meantime, if you want to export from your production site, simply deactivate the SSL Insecure Content Fixer plugin temporarily, run the export, download the file, and then immediately reactivate the SSL plugin. The export usually takes less than a minute, so it should be pretty quick! ??
Thanks,

In reply to: [Alt Text Tools] Downloaded Alt Tag CSV is BlankGot it – thanks.
I just tried downloading the file and see the same issue. It takes 20-35 seconds to generate the CSV file, and then downloads normally, but the file has no content.
I just got your email as well – so let’s communicate on email and then once we have solution I’ll update this thread.
Thanks,

In reply to: [Alt Text Tools] Downloaded Alt Tag CSV is BlankHi Leigh Anne –
Sorry that didn’t fix it! Unfortunately this kind of thing is difficult to troubleshoot without really being able to access your site. Would you be willing to provide me with an admin login so I can take a look? If so, please create a new administrator account with email address support@nerdpress.net and have it send us the password reset email.
Better yet, if you have a staging site, maybe you can make sure it’s synced to the current live site, and I can log into that instead?
If you’re not comfortable with that, I totally understand. Maybe as a next step you could provide a list of all the plugins you have installed?
It also looks like you have a custom theme, so it could be something there that’s conflicting — I’d love to be able to review of your theme’s functions.php file if possible, too.
Please do NOT post any passwords, etc. here. You can just create an account for us or email us directly and we’ll go from there!
Thanks,

In reply to: [Alt Text Tools] Downloaded Alt Tag CSV is BlankHi! This is the first time we’ve run into this issue. This is for https://www.yourhomebasedmom.com, correct?
It looks like you have a lazy load tool — and a .webp image optimization tool in place. I’m wondering if maybe those are interfering with our script.
Would you please try disabling those features (one at a time), and re-downloading the CSV, to see if one of those is the conflict? Thanks!

In reply to: [Alt Text Tools] EMPTY Alt TagHi Tonia!
I replied back but my answer has gone into moderation.. so I’ll just add the short answer here: I think you’re fine. The two empty alt tags I found on that page are hidden images related to your Create card. Screen readers will ignore images with empty alt tags, which in this case I think is what you want. ??
