I also would like to find a solution for this. Specifically, making a category other than “all” active based on how the user navigated to the page. Meaning if they clicked “branding” in the dropdown nav menu then the portfolio page will load with the “branding” filter active. I am using the “images” layout but could switch to “posts” if that can be used to resolve the problem.
