In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] Dont use! Thanks very much for keeping us posted, @dunavista. Glad you resolved it! As you have this working again, perhaps you could consider adjusting your rating to reflect that? Or if there are still issues significant enough for you to preserve your current rating, please don’t hesitate to let us know so we can look into them.
Thanks again. (Erick)

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] work well now@volmering: I’m wondering if you’d be willing to contact us via our bug report form here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/
Say Erick asked you to write and link back to this thread so our team knows. If you haven’t already shifted to another solution, then we’d like to see what may be happening here.
A couple questions I know we’re going to ask, so you can maybe include answers either here or in your bug report:
*You said you updated to 2.0.61 and had these issues. What version did you update *from*? Was it a Legacy version 1.9.13 or earlier, or was it from, say, 2.0.59 or 2.0.40. I’m just wondering if the 2.x version was working for you at some point, or never was.
*Based on what you’re saying, I’m wondering if what you’re seeing is related to some kind of hosting configuration. Can you tell us where your these site are hosted?
So again, if you’re up to it just contact us via that form and we’ll pick it up with you via email.
By the way, if it’s not working, you have every right to complain, free or not. We’d just prefer we also get a chance to look at the issue first :).
Thanks and best.
Thanks for taking time to leave your feedback! (Erick @ Photocrati)

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] work well now@volmering: Thanks for taking some time to leave feedback, but could you be more specific about what issues you’re having?
I checked your user profile to see your forum/support threads, but I see your account is brand new as of March and this is your very first post of any kind. I also see you reference “2.x”, but that covers 8 months and 60 NGG versions, so I’m also wondering what version you’re referring to.
One reason I ask all this is that, as you’ll note from WP.org voting on recent NextGEN versions, 2.0.61 is performing quite well for most users. So I have the sense that if you are having “only trouble,” there’s probably something specific going on.
Thanks for any additional input. (Erick from Photocrati)
@andrewcking: This sounds like a conflict with your specific theme. Can you tell us what theme you’re using? And do you know, by chance, if the navigation issue affects your site regardless of which theme you’re using?

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] Dont use!@dunavista: FYI – just posted a response to your thread here:
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/links-still-stuck-on-old-domain-save-option-not-working
That issue is one that affect lightbox URLs on sites that migrate from one URL to a different one. The reset button generally resolves it, so we’re sorry that it’s not in this case.
Just FYI (and for others reading this), we’ve also introduced a permanent fix that will be available in the next release. Thanks. (Erick at Photocrati)
Hi @dunavista – In almost all cases, the URL you’re referring to is related to a stored absolute URL affecting the behavior of lightboxes, and it only affect sites being migrated from one URL to another.
As Tizz notes, in almost all cases, hitting the reset button has addressed that, so we’re a bit surprised that’s not working. If you’d like to submit a bug report, we can probably take a closer look.
Just so you know, our next release has a permanent fix for this issue by shifting all lightboxes to relative URLs as they should be. That release will hopefully be available in beta version by next week, with release either next week or the week after.
Thanks. (Erick from Photocrati)
Hi @timothyfaust – thanks for taking the time to leave some remarks. We’re wondering if you can clarify:
1) Your review title mentions Pro. Is this a review of the Pro/paid version, or the free version?
2) You mentioned the “galleries look terrible” but the galleries displays haven’t actually changed at all in the free version. So we’re wondering if either your galleries just weren’t working properly or you’re again talking about Pro galleries that you don’t like? If it’s the Pro galleries, it comes with size gallery types, and we’re wondering which specifically you’re referring to.
3) If you are seeing that kind of load time, something is really, really off. The 2.x updates are more powerful than the older versions, and the increases power does come with a bit of a performance hit for some users. But what you’re describing is obviously very unusual, and clearly indicates some deeper problem. We wouldn’t mind being able to see and diagnose it if you’re open to that.
Thanks for any additional details.

Thanks, Alex, for taking the time to leave some remarks. What exactly wasn’t working for you? While the initial update to 2.0.0 was admittedly bumpy, that was 8 months and 60+ versions ago.
In more recent updates, we usually have 70,000 people updating NextGEN just the first week after each recent release, a couple hundred thousand within a month, and we know it’s working well for the overwhelming majority, and that those who do have issues have issues that are relatively minor, or affecting certain specific features.
There are some lingering performance issues in certain server environments, which we’re addressing in one of our next releases. Is that what you’re referring to?
Otherwise I’m just wondering if you can clarify what wasn’t usable so we can take a look. Thanks!

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] So old worldHi DJF3, I’m noticing that you’re referencing 2.x. Usually when users update and/or review, they list an actual specific version? Which version did you actually update to?
Also, you mentioned rolling back to 1.9.13, which is 8 months old. If you were using 1.9.13 prior to updating, that means you’ve been using NextGEN Gallery for a long time (at least 8-9 months), so you’re already familiar with the interface. Do you mean to say that the refreshed 2.0.61 interface (from 2013) is more outdated and/or complex than the 1.9.13 interface (designed and unchanged since 2007) that you rolled back to?
Just trying to understand your remarks. Thanks.
Thanks for additional details. We’re looking into this. For those with the issue, any specific details you can provide about what’s powering your images is helpful.
As Vicky_h and robhob are suggesting, if you updated from 2.0.40 to 2.0.57 and your slider broke, you can just roll back to 2.0.40 until we sort out what the issue is. You can grab the 2.0.40 zip file here:
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/nextgen-gallery/developers/
And here are roll back instructions for those who aren’t sure how to do it:
Given three reports, it seems likely we’ve introduced something that conflict with some other element on your sites. But to solve it, we just need to understand what the conflict is with specifically.
Sounds like manfredk was using the Nivo slider. Thanks for the details on that manfredk. Can you clarify is the nivo slider is on your site as a separate plugin?
@ssent1 and @chrisnasulea, please let us know if you are also using Nivo, and if not, what you are using.
If we can diagnose, I suspect we can resolve it and hopefully provide a patch for those of you affected.
Thanks.
@chrisnasulea: Can you tell us which theme your using? I assume both featured images and “portfolio items” are being powered by your theme. So I’m wondering if there’s a conflict there with the theme. Thanks.
One more thought on this. The one other thing I could see here is if you were storing your template files here:
wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati-nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/view/
That’s where NextGEN stores it’s default/included templates. But if you stored there and updated your plugin, your files would be overwritten, so if that’s the case you should avoid storing your template there. Instead, create a ngglegacy folder within your theme directory (wp-content/themes/[your-theme]/nggallery) and re-copy your templates there. Once they are in that folder, they should start working again.
