Yes, SFL is indeed designed for file management. Uploading is just a portion of the plugin that you use or not.

Hopefully you can access the demo now. If not, please give the free version here a try. They work mostly the same except without sub-folders and bulk editing.

Error 97 means that the current user is not allowed to proceed with the intended operation. This can happen if you change the settings on the back-end while having a front-end page open in another browser or tab. Please refresh the front-end page and try again.

It should work then. Please click the re-scan files button on the Admin File list, then go back to the upload settings tab and see if you can increase the value. If not, re-save those settings even if you haven’t changed anything. The proper max value should display.

Hello. Simple File List does not include the Ghostscript code. It is usually already installed on the web server. So this issue is related to Ghostscript and not this plugin. I’m sure they will patch the issue soon.

If users do not want SFL to interact with Ghostscript, they can simply uncheck the option for creating PDF thumbnails.

That’s a new one. I have not seen this issue before. I’m wondering if it has to do with your date setting on the WordPress Settings > General tab. Try changing that to see if the dates will appear.

Unfortunately, there is not a work around. These are command line applications, so you need access to that.
