In reply to: How to send a link to a file on my siteThanks – I created a separate /downloads directory under my root and then created a robots.txt file as suggested above that excludes that directory (as well as some of the additional ones recommended above).
I could probably have used dropbox as well, but this was very simple to do.

In reply to: [Post Content Shortcodes] Multiple shortcodes in one post/pageHey there.
I just installed this plugin so I can place a few posts on the static home page of my site.I was able to get it to work using the post-content shortcode to place one specific post at the bottom of my page.
But when I tried to add another post-content shortcode to the same page to put another post on the page, then the whole page went blank with nothing displaying. Very strange.
I am using image=true and show_excerpt=true, because I only want to show my featured image and an excerpt for a few posts at the bottom of my static home page.. not the whole post..
I was hoping this plugin would do the trick, but it only seems to work for a single post only on my page.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

In reply to: [Simple Links] Increasing Font Size of Link ListingsYou are correct. It is a bigger font. I have a “cache” program, and that must have stopped me from seeing the update I made right away.
Thanks so much for the help. All good now!

In reply to: [Simple Links] Increasing Font Size of Link ListingsTried it, but doesn’t seem to be working.
This is what I put in my CUSTOM.CSS:.simple-links-list li a {
font-size: 18px;
}The page in question is:

I just want the list items to appear a bit bigger on the page.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Install Config. for "Newbies"Stacy,
Thanks for the link. It’s a good post that explains a lot. I still have some questions, but am a bit “closer” then I was. I will also look on Youtube for some videos as well.. Should have thought of that. One question… I have seen a lot of mentions of “Keyword Winner”.. a premium plugin that helps you select keywords. Anyone know if this would work together with WordPress SEO plugin ok? It looks like WordPress SEO has links to some keyword resources, but “Keyword Winner” seems to put keyword searching right into your post creation process, which can be a real time saver.
Thanks.

In reply to: How to send a link to a file on my siteAlex,
Thanks for the response. Sounds pretty simple that what, at least for what I want to do initially. Only downside is that I presume anyone that “finds” this directory can download the file, but I guess they would need to know where to search.
However, question for you, my filemanager shows my site directory as follows, so where would I put the “downloads” directory:
Here is the layout of where my site lives in the directory tree on my hosting site:
/home/public_html/mysitenameand under my sitename directory, I have directories for:
/cgi-bin
/wp-admin
/wp-content
/wp-includesWould I just create a new directory under /home/public_html/mysitename called:
/downloadsAnd put the file(s) in there?
Thanks and sorry if this is obvious (newbie here).

In reply to: How to add a pre-set group of text into a postFYI – The “Quicktag” plugin does exactly what i want.
Wasn’t easy to figure out how it works, but once I did, was able to throw all the code i want in a “quicktag” and then I just select the quicktags I want when editing my post and it inserts everything in.. Viola! Simple. Nice is that I made several quicktags: “Footer1”, “Footer2”, “Footer 3”, so depending upon the type of post, I just select the one I want and I am good. I even figured out that I can put some “Shortcodes” into my quicktags to make things even simpler!Michael

Thanks.

In reply to: How to add a pre-set group of text into a postRavi,
Thanks, but if I do that, it means these standard texts will now appear in every post that I create.instead, what I wanted to try to do was to have 2 or 3 different options that I could choose to insert at various points in my posting.
For example, I would create a “header 1”, “header 2” and a “footer 1” and “footer 2”.
Depending upon the type of post, I may decide I want to insert “header 1” in it at the top and “footer 2” in it at the bottom.
Then, in another post, I may want to insert “header 2” in the top and also “footer 2” in the bottom.
So, I have the option to just choose what ones I want to insert where.
Thanks.
Michael
That was it.. it was the “address bar share” option for ADDTHIS!
Thanks!
Michael
srijith,
Are you stating that you can see the addthis header bar on your system?
And no, I do not have any sort of dev/qa site.. only my production site..
If necesary, I can get you access, but I want to first determine if this just a problem with my browsers or not.
Thanks.
Michael
I forgot to say that my site is:
https://www.emailoverloadsolutions.com
The smartlayer for a “follow header” does not show up at all either on Chrome or IE for my site.
So, I have the widget working in the sidebar, but can’t get anything to show in the header.
