well, i don’t have any functions to include just yet.. but i want to know where they go when i do.

so are you saying – i make a functions.php folder and put it in my child theme’s directory?

ah.. yes. this works! although strangely as the changes appear after doing this, they also disappear again.. it’s weird – have to go back and forth several times visiting on a new page and clearing the cache etc before finally it changes for good!

which bit exactly of the twenty eleven footer.php do i need to copy and paste into my child theme’s style.css and which part/s of that do i need to modify in order to delete ‘proudly powered by wordpress’.

i’ve got 2 themes showing up in my dashboard –

‘twentyeleven’ and ‘twenty eleven child theme by ej osbore’

this is what it says under the twenty eleven child theme –

Twentyeleven Child by ej osbore
Child theme for the twentyeleven theme
The template files are located in /themes/twentyeleven.
The stylesheet files are located in /themes/style.css.
Twentyeleven Child uses templates from Twenty Eleven.
Changes made to the templates will affect both themes.

is this what it should say?

i installed the rsh-Tweet plug in to test the water. i have a tweet button appearing on every page accept the only one i actually want it on!
i want it on the page that says blog and not on the others.

also, how do i get the search bar off and the ‘proudly powered..’ off the footer without causing damage?

well.. no.

i deleted it this morning, then activated a fresh version, but this evening i deleted the php that gets rid of the search bar. that seems to have worked.. but anyway, no, it’s no longer a fresh 2011.

i’m wondering if iv’e done something wrong with regard to the ftp upload to my server.

well.. i’m giving it a go, but to be honest it just feels like i might be correction am making a mess at the moment.

i am actually in twenty eleven! i know i know.. i should have made a child theme!
what i actually did instead of making a child theme, was make a copy of the twenty eleven theme, renamed it twentyelevencopy, uploaded and was working with that – up until i deleted something in a blahblah.php that i just couldn’t put back, which has now left that theme looking completely white!
i’ve deleted that theme now and am just on twenty eleven raw.

maybe i should just start over completely.

the same plug ins were working the other day.

i heard (sifting about on google) that there could be plug in issues if you delete the footer.

i deleted the footer yesterday – to get rid of the ‘proudly powered..’ but then put it back after thinking it could be the culprit.

but no joy.

ok.. so there is a possibility that it will rectify itself in x amount of days/weeks?

any suggestions of where to start looking for the plugin problem?
