Hi,
My issue was that i started to use Cloudflare and i noticed that after that Google Bots failed, as the requestor IP was that provided by Cloudflare, Not a Google IP address, and the Fake Bot feature was being set.
If it is wrong IP related have you tried doing a Fetch as Google via your search console, try this ( with the block Fake Bot feature enabled) on any page within your site and if you only get the HTTP header and nothing else, then somehow it looks as if your server is getting a none Google IP,

Hello,
Have you started to use Cloudflare?

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yeost SEO stopped Generating SitemapHello,
As indicated in my last response — No i still have the issue, however your suggestions are still implemented. i assume that is OK ..
It is now looking like a Cloudflare issue, as the author of the All in One Security plugin for WP is working closely with me on isolating the problem.
ThxJohn W
Hello,
I have an issue at present where i get failures with Fetch with Google returning zero content with a HTTP code of 200. This issue is also affecting Sitemaps.
My hosting company is asking for proof that i believe it is their issue, and i cannot do that.
The other point about this problem is that Cloudflare are involved, as the name servers point to them, as they are providing SSL certificates for my conversion from HTTP to HTTPS. and they are also indicating it is nothing to do with them either. SO i am left here high and dry with nowhere to go in getting a resolution to this issue.
This is why i was hoping you could come to the rescue.
Thx
John

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yeost SEO stopped Generating SitemapHello,
Thank You for your response.
I followed your instruction to the letter, including the clearing Cache in Cloudflare, I also enabled a feature within the Security Plugin that stops fake Google Bots, and i am sorry to say that as soon as i submitted the sitemap via the Search Console, it came back immediately with the error that the site map is empty ie No URLS’s
I cleared the feature within my security plugin and cleared all cache both in W3 Cache and in Cloudflare then resubmitted the sitemap and all is OK again.
I am no expert but it would appear that if the Security Plugin ( all in One) is correct then Cloudflare are not sending the request to my hosting company that indicates that it is a genuine Google IP??.
But i maybe a million miles away from the correct answer on this. Thanks for your assistance so far.

Hello Rob,
I am interested in your response as i have a site that used Cloudflare and am getting the same issue as you.
In your last response you state “once i turned it off” what did you turn off please? did you stop using Cloudflare??
I sue Cloudflare to supply SSL certs etc as a free account and to stop using them would mean a rethink on converting from HTTP to HTTPS.
THanks
John W
Hello,
Yes it would seem the same and i have asked Cloudflare to comment ???
Thanks

Hello,
I also have this issue, and i am using the latest version of Allin One Security. I am not sure how significant this is but it started to happen when i started to use Cloudflare, primarily to provide SSL certificates in my conversion from HTTP to HTTPS.
Unless this feature is disabled Fetch with Google does not work either ie it returns with zero content on any page including sitemap, and it is my impression that zero content on Fetc with Google is going to impact Rankings ? Yes?Thanks

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yeost SEO stopped Generating SitemapOk,
The site in question is glandorevillage.ieThe issue is now fixed, i think …. it appears that in the process of converting from HTTP to HTTPS, i impacted the ability of google to fetch any URL correctly, as i now use Cloudflare as the SSL provider.
The odd thing about this is that this only happens on this site which is hosted by a different company to my other installations, so i need to fully understand why that is…
The issue has temporarily been resolved by changing a setting in my Security plugin which further compromised the ability of Google to verify the sitemap. If anyone can add information to make this issue more understandable then that would be good.
Thx

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yeost SEO stopped Generating SitemapUpdate, New Non Yoast Sitemap has now been indexed and appears to be workign within the Google Search Console
So can only assume the Yoast Sitemap installation is faulty.
