I stopped the Twitter conversion I had running, saved my settings for Social, then enabled the plugin and ran it again:

I was running an update of the tweets at this time – it’s taking forever to update my still-over-160000 tweets…. I’ll run this again without that running and post the results.

And I also lack time right now to dig in – I’ll probably seek alternatives since this isn’t working for me. Like Barry, I’ve been using Twitter Tools for years as my primary backup mechanism; the old version would sometimes write multiple pages a day – not a big deal as I wanted to review comments daily anyway, but the current kit doesn’t fill in what’s missing, so I get holes in the backup. I’ll keep following this thread, if someone thinks they’ve fixed it I’ll perhaps try again. Thanks!

It’s one of the tables in your WordPress MySQL installation (well, mostly likely MySQL :-). If you have a hosted account, it’s like your provider has phpMyAdmin or something similar.

I have tried this, and I tried turning Twitter Tools off and back on via settings – no auto update. When I force an update I get a value for social_last_lock_time, however, I now never see social_locked or social_unlocked. Thanks! – Bob

I have turned things on – I found that forum post also the day after the new version was released. It’s just not automatically updating, and I suspect the upgrade is also only doing one or two passes and then stopping. I don’t know what to check ….

Thanks – I’ve been running this for days, canceling every morning to check. This morning I still have 182390 to process. I guess I’ll have to check the database to see if there were bad records written by the old Twitter Tools. Otherwise upgrading the old tweets may be a lost cause for me, I hope the tool will handle that alright.

I tried the 25 value – still really slow.

Any other suggestions to speed up processing previous tweets? I’ve still got over 180K to process…

Thanks – I’m trying that now.

And yes, I’ve been cancelling every so often and checking how many counted down – I’m not seeing ~4000 tweets / 5 min. I wonder what else could be causing the latency…

Anyway, I’ll let this one run about an hour and report back how many were completed. Thanks!

Okay, I am properly embarrassed – I used Google and you can indeed disable the Jetpack image carousel; that fixed my issue.

Did some more research – it’s the Jetpack carousel that’s showing up I think, and I don’t see a way to turn that off. I’d hate to have to use that instead of jQuery Colorbox for my image carousel just to use the rest of Jetpack.

Yes, I just checked, my bad – 2.5.1 is the latest plugin version, so you should grab the previous version from the WordPress plugin archive to extract the CSS file that you’ll need to append to style.css.
