Forgive my ignorance but I’m new to all this! Are the log files to be found through my hosting account or my wordpress admin area?

I tried finding them through the ‘manage website’ area of my hosting package and all i could find was something called ‘log retention’ but it’s not turned on so no data has been recorded.

I’m probably able to access the logs but I wouldn’t know where to look! I think her IP is attempting to access it because she gets the standard ‘forbidden’ notice, and I presume she wouldn’t see this if no connection had been made?

Update: I just checked again and the problems seem to have resolved themselves. The download link is functioning when logged out of admin and the PDF loaded very quickly.

I’m going to leave this post up however because I am curious if anybody knows what causes file downloads from posts to be fast / slow and if there is any way (plugins etc) that I can make the speed more consistent?

Thanks but that page seems to be for when users are having trouble receiving their passwords – I’m not a user, I’m the administrator who setup and installed wordpress so I’m completely locked out. The advice on those links involves logging into the wordpress admin page and dealing with things on that side – I can’t even get in or retrieve the email telling me the password!

The link on how to reset the password is way too technical for me – I’m not comfortable editing SQL stuff, I just installed wordpress for the first time today and use a basic template for my website.
