I am also trying to change the colours of the dark gray bars in the forum to a much lighter shade, so that the text in the bars will be readable.

I am having the same problem. I have created the custom page, without the sidebar, the only thing I haven’t managed to do is to make the content part of the page wide so as to cover the empty space left by the removed sidebar.

I’d be so grateful if someone could take a look at my site here and give me a hint.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer. Unfortunately, there is nothing in my single.php template for related posts, and the plugin does not exist anymore in my wordpress files. The folder is gone – I keep checking – and I emptied my whole cache folder (in wp-content). I am reinstalling my whole WP installation now…

Absolutely. it is theromejournal(dot)org – if you click on one individual post and then scroll down, you will see that “Related Posts” are mentioned at the very end of the post, and the plugin seems to be working even though I deleted the folder.
