    Great news.

I look forward to getting hold of it and having a look around.
    Thanks

I have sent you a message via contact us on your website.

Actually, I have been looking at the code today.
I’m working on renaming to see if I can do it without breaking everything. I will let you know how I do.

Current version, BP Gallery Plus 1.1.5 and WP 3.4.2

BuddyPress Album activated still fatal error.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare bpa_init() (previously declared in /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bp-album/loader.php:27) in /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bp-gallery/loader.php on line 32

BuddyPress Album deactivated, BP Gallery Plus activates fine.

First – On the settings page the first option should be renamed from “Name of BP Photos+tags slug” to “Name of BP Galleries Plus slug” or something consistent with the current plugin and not the predecessor.

Now we go to the functionality.

Editing photo works as far as title and description. Tagging does not work at all. Clicking on “Tag this photo”, nothing happens. Try to do anything with the photo beyond editing the title and description nothing happens.

When going to the “View Image” function, clicking on the arrow does advance to the next image. However, once the page refreshes to show the next image, the page jumps to the top (above the image) I have to scroll back down to the image each time I click on an arrow to see the next image.

Here is where the problem of having to go to the “Back” browser button happens. When I go to “My Photos”, I get the page with all the thumbnails for images in the album. However, when I click on one of the thumbnails, the Ajaxed image pops up with a solid dark background. That’s no problem, but when I am done looking at the image, there is no way (in firefox) to navigate to the next or previous image and no way to close the image. In order to return to the thumbnails, I have to click on the “back” button to clear the image and see the thumbnails again. This is a major pain in the functionality. Members will not like having to do that every time they want to look at an image.

Settings on the album are set to logged in members only.

The only way to get to the “Edit Image”, “Delete Image” and “Feature Image” or rather “Image Functions” is to click on “My Galleries” then click on the gallery I want to look at the images in, and then the page that shows up shows the thumbnails with the “Image Functions” drop downs below each image. That is to indirect for most users to figure out. And once they figure it out, they may have to use trial and error to figure it out again. Can you make an option to have the “Image Functions” available via a link or possibly on the “My Photos” page instead of having to go all the way through the process of going to the galleries page and then clicking on the gallery to get to the page that has the drop downs?

So, far that is what I have found.
The settings I used for this test are as follows:

Force members to enter a description for each image – NO
Allow site members to post comments on album images – YES
Disable public access to member galleries – NO
Post image thumbnails to members activity stream – YES

Keep original image files – NO
Use image URL re-mapping – NO

I have only tested this in firefox and have not looked at it with firebug. I don’t really have time to do that right now.

At the time, I tested the plugin it was the current version of 1.1 with WP 3.4.2.

I will update the plugin on my test site and see what I find now. Thanks for your response and hope things do go well.

Oh, yes.. I knew there was another.. I do like phpfox..
But, I haven’t gotten to the point that I want to spend the money.. lol

    It is a consideration though..

yes, I have looked at elgg in the past and am actually considering putting up a test site to explore it’s possibilities..

So far, I personally have to this point in time, focused on the blogging aspect of social networking, but I’m becoming more aware of the fact that a lot of people just want to make short statements and socialize in certain niches.. So, the elgg software does interest me.

Social engine is another alternative as well, and is similar price range as jomsocial. I like the layout of the social engine tho. It is very similar to FB.

There is also Boonex Dolphin.. it is a free platform that you can purchase a license for to remove the links.. In the past though, people have complained about it’s ability to handle large memberships.. Somthing I personally haven’t had to deal with, but do so look forward to… lol

    [edit] ‘disappointed’..

Yes, it is unfortunate that BP doesn’t get on board with what people are looking for on the social networking side of things. The logic in coding to make things difficult to both use standard WP Themes and install escapes me. And then to leave out albums all this time is sad.

NextGen seems to have great potential, but stops short of what many people are looking for on the frontend. But I see it talked about by a lot of people. I was dissappointed to find that it is stuck in the dashboard.. But maybe someone will bring it to the front, who knows..

What engine are you thinking about using @vienem, if I may ask?

    What a shame.
I was excited about nextgen and when I saw your plugin I thought I had found the perfect match.

The unfortunate thing is, BP is a social networking plugin that is designed to keep people on the frontend. An integration should actually help to bring nextgen to the frontend so those users on the site, we don’t want in the backend can use it.. Guess I will keep looking or get smart enough to do it myself… lol

At least you have a link to the galleries.. That is a great start.. Thanks

    @marsh4,

I would love to see the ebook on this plugin.
I’ve been playing with the plugin and haven’t found the right solution yet.

    I’m using WP 3.4.1

However, I don’t think I will post my email address here.. Do you have somewhere I can download the ebook from??

    Thanks

Also, cannot remove “article” form, and sometimes creates another form “article” when creating new form. So, start out with one, get three..

    With all due respect BigGogSF,

I didn’t see you on the forums, and I, as well as some others, including Simon, do make ourselves available to even those who choose not to purchase the minimal cost membership.

If you found the forums worthless, I would like to know what username you were using or, you can go on there and you can add me as a friend and I will be happy to talk with you about issues you might have had.

There is no secret that if the “panel” is activated, it slows down a site. Many people don’t use that feature because it is mainly for chat. Other features of WPS are duplicated by the panel.

I will add, if you use any chat plugin for WP, it will take system resources. Unless your chat is hosted on a different server. One big reason for that is, it constantly polls and refreshes. Many server hosts don’t like you to use chat software that is hosted locally because of that issue.

As far as searching the forums, there is an accurate search function in the forums.

I would really like to see your username and what issues you raised..

    Thanks,
    Ellsweb

    I especially like Simon’s Sigh’s and ahem’s…

    The Dur’s are cool too…

Simon is quite a dev.. I enjoy his forums.
