i have found

indeed it was very simple for a person who would still have skills (juste click on a button) but very long for me (finding the button…)

i have upgraded the php version of to 7.3 (it was 5.x). The website still works

But (and comes my question) : i had first tried to upgrade to 8.0 since it was proposed ; i have then noticed that the page was blanck. Does it mean that our wordpress website is not compatible with php>=8 ? So my question : one day in the future, i guess we will have to upgrade php to 8.x or more. In anticipation i ask : what will be to do this day : recreating the whole website ?….. Maybe the webmaster won’t be me so i try to prepare the field for my successor

now i have first to save the website but this page https://wpfr.net/guide-demarrage-debutants/, and this page https://fr.www.ads-software.com/support/article/update-php/, althought it is written “for beginners”, are clearly difficult to me.

Is there a very simple “howto for dummies” that would explain to me, step by step, even in english, maybe thought a video, how to save the website and update php ?

my email was explaning that i have access to the ftp (that i never use) but i dont know where it is hosted

my skills in informatics are too weak to let me know if : accessing to the ftp can give information to where it is hosted

it is the website of an association, the person who initially created the website is not reachable

so i come back with my a), and b) questions ??

I have tried again the same test after having installed flamingo
so : the infos i have filled seems to appear in flamingo
but not in the email received as admin

it seems endly that “view by category” automatically displays posts by chronologic order, the newest first
i think i was confused because one post had the box checked “article mis en avant” or “article épinglé” i dont know the english translation

no, no, the “posts page” is named “Blog” and has for slug “blog”
the page named “Le Festival” and having for slug “le-festival” is another page
this page “le-festival” exists in wp-admin (in the list of the pages) and when i visit it typing the url “blablmywebsite/?page_id=le-festival”, then the content i see is not the content i have when editing it in wp-admin
strange, isn’t it ?
??

i precisze that the “blog” page, referred as “posts page” in setting/reading, has for slug “blog”
the page i am working on has for slug “le-festival”
what i just dont understand is why when i edit this page in wp-admin, the content is reaaly different of what i see on a browser when i load myadress/?page_id=le-festival

i dont understand what i shall look at in seetings/reading
the page i am speaking about, called “le-festival”, do not present the content it seems to have when i edit it : very stange.
If i charge it on a browser, the top posts that appear are (a) “le 25eme festival approche” and “soirée concert” and “la petite sirène” and “privé : brouillons copiés-collés”
whereas if i edit the page called “le-festival” in my wp-admin, what i see is (b) : “le 26e (video)” and “le programme” etc
what i really want is understanding the way (a) was created in order to create other pages the same way
