If you go to Appearance/Editor, you can update the comments.php file to display custom text.

What kinds of menus do you want the user to be able to see/edit? That will help to define what role he/she should be assigned.

You can use the default Text widget option to insert custom html.

It can be found among the widgets at Appearance/Widgets.

Do you plan on adding many more pages to your site? Right now, the site map just echoes the links across the top of the page, so I would argue that you really don’t need the Site Map. It’s a little confusing.

If you’re only going to have these pages but want to keep the Site Map, you could just create it as a Text Widget – you will have to code it in html, though. Kind of a hack but a quick fix.

What version of WordPress are you running?

I’m seeing Add New and Delete in 3.9.

Rather than embedding another website into your page, which will likely break any sort of responsiveness, one option might be to assign an Instagram (or another service) hashtag for the event and then feed that into a WordPress page, post, or sidebar. Then your guests don’t need to download a specific app.

Could this be an option for you?

I’m not seeing a sidebar, so perhaps you have already figured that part out.

In terms of the Archives link, that’s a widget. If you go to Appearance/Widgets, you should look for Archives and click and drag it from one of widget groups on the right over to the left – where inactive widgets live.

Are you looking to add a Custom Header? That process is described for Twenty Ten here: https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentyten/.

It can be done under Appearance/Customize.

Can you send along a URL so someone can have a look?

Are parent categories displaying OK, and just subcategories are causing issues? Can you display a certain number of subcategories, but you’re running into issues when you’re displaying a lot of them?

You can use Jetpack for this. At the bottom of the Settings/Discussion Settings page, you can click the checkbox that reads “Show a ‘follow comments’ option in the comment form.”

Have you tried adding Featured Images?

There’s a menu on the right hand side of Pages and Posts with a link that says “Set Featured Image.” The Featured Image is generally what shows on Facebook, Twitter, and in RSS feeds.

If you go to the Jetpack menu, then click on Publicize – Configure, you should be able to enable and disable services one by one.

You can also access this via Settings/Sharing.
