In reply to: Write page doesn’t show Visual editor, just HTMLAm I right in thinking, though, that which ever you set to be default in the old version, it let you switch between the two on the fly.
As far as I can tell, if I set HTML to be the default now, it’s not got the option to switch to visual.
However, if I set visual to be the default, it’s got the option to switch to HTML (and back again).Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Let author only see their postsPrivate: Lets it only be visible on the site when the poster is logged in OR if you’ve got the post levels plugin, then any author that you’ve given the rights to.
Would I be right in thinking that the reason that you want author 1 only to see their posts when they’re in the “edit” screen, is to stop them editing other peoples posts, or is it just to make it easier to find theirs? I’ve just tested a contributor account I have; I can’t edit the posts I made as admin; I can only edit the posts I made as the contributor. I can still see all the admin posts in the list, but can’t do anything with them.
I wonder if you could do some sort of auto category, so that AUthor 1’s posts are automatically in Author 1 category, as well as anything else. Then, from that screen listing all the posts, they could sort by category to find their own posts.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Beginner question: feeding different blogs from central blog?Perhaps you need to do it the other way round… use something like wp-o-matic in your parent blog.
Post to the other blogs, and get them pulled in to the mother blog, with the appropriate categories added at the time.If you’re finding that gives you too many “press it” links in your browser, have you looked at using the blogging feature of Flock – or the one that’s in the IE blogging tool?

In reply to: Let author only see their postsNot quite sure that I understand … doesn’t setting them to “private” do what you want it to do?
given the title you gave the post, “I can’t create new posts or edit old ones – even after upgrading to 2.5” … did you have problems before you upgraded? Can you identify a point at which they started>? LIke, say, a new plugin that might be conflicting with another one?
Which other pages in the admin area aren’t working?

In reply to: Transferring Domain Name to WordPress from GoDaddyAre there other “offical” sites saying that www is deprecated? I’ve tried to find others, but can’t. While the site that Otto42 has pointed to makes sense, I’d rather have others to back it up before I pass it on to students.

In reply to: What files are changed? Is MySQL updated?I just uploaded the old config file – it didn’t cause me any problems. (Or, rather, I just didn’t delete it from the server, when I deleted the other files prior to uploading the new ones)

In reply to: Tag queriesThanks … it doesn’t seem to have the merge option, but at least the ease of adding ones I’ve had before should stop me creating similar ones in future. As I’ve not got many, the lack of ability to merge isn’t going to be too much of a problem.

In reply to: Moving WordPress SiteWhen I had to move domains, tamba’s info was great – https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/move/ – in particular the SCR Freeware thing that let you edit anything in the database … would be ideal for your URLs.
